Here's my story:

I smoked for 9 years. I loved it. Got a chest x ray and it said I had COPD and some other stuff, so I quit that day. I later got a CT scan to see if it was anything further. My results said that my lung bases were clear. So, I guess the Xray got it wrong, because the CT scan is a far more powerful test.

I haven't smoked in one year and 7 months. During that time, I used Swedish snus, but more as a pleasure thing. I was not addicted to it. But recently, I have been fantasizing about smoking and cigarettes. I am reading about tobacco and thinking back to the good old days of smoking. Trying to find a way if I can cheat the system and do this in some sort of healthier way. Organic tobacco etc.

This started when I stopped using Swedish snus for a couple of months. I don't know if the lack of nicotine or lack of a smoking substitute caused this, or if it just happened for whatever reason, but it scared me, so I got some more snus. But, the snus didn't help alleviate this new fascination.

So I began researching, and now I ordered an electronic cigarette, and I hope this can satisify my craving to smoke.

It is a ****ty addiction. I stopped for 1 year and 7 months, and thought I would never smoke again. I didn't have the urge or anything until now. It came back and came back strong.

I ordered a 510 model with a bunch of different flavors and some accessories. I hope this will be good.

I used to smoke Marlboros and Newports etc. Basically, any strong tobacco or menthol flavor that will make me feel like I am smoking is something I want, so if you have any recommendations for me, I'd appreciate it.

Welcome to ECF, Giantfan. I was a pack/pack'n'half a day smoker starting with Camel filters then eventually switching to Marlboro reds. Started when I was 14, and got to at least a pack a day by 15. I am now 21 and I quit last week when my PV came in. I literally smoked my last cigarette, then picked up on vaping. The first day I still craved analogs, but with vaping at hand, it was nothing compared to going cold turkey with no alternative. It's been about 4 days and I've gotten a strong sense of smell back and am now repulsed by analog smell.

From my personal experience, this is an excellent alternative than going to the gas station and buying a pack of smokes. And from past attempts of trying to quit, it was the physical habit I could not kill. I loved smoking, the act of it, and the effects. And this solves both.

I would say try a few tobacco product flavors, but don't stray from others because they are not. You may be surprised what you prefer in the end. Marlboro flavor is a nice blend for me but I would take most, if not all, fruit flavors over it any day.

Since you say you love to smoke, I'm more than positive you will like this. I've had a dozen smokers try mine a couple of times(had to more than once, since they don't listen to me and draw in way too much for their first time and choke) and the worst I've heard concerns the initial costs. I've gotten a couple of people that actually prefer to get a couple vapes from me than going and lighting up an analog. I've had to tell a couple of people to go get their own.

I know what you mean! I once quit for 3 years and not a day went by that I didn't crave a cig a few times a day! It sucks! I have found that the VaporKing works best for me for ease of use and consistant taste. And Steve at V4L is the bomb! I have found that I do not care for tobacco flavors, and I tend to go for the coffee and even fruit flavors! Big surprise but I guess alot of people are the same way! lol

Good luck to you - you are going to love vaping! ;)

That's some nice encouragement.

I wish they could really create a consistent model that was the size of a normal cigarette so that way I could use it more discreetly in public. Although promoting the e cigarette is cool, and I'll probably do it, I am not really an attention seeker, so I kind of want to blend in.

JenJen, I have read a lot of your posts, and they all sound the same. I don't want to knock you, but you only sound like you are advertising.

lol, actually I think you'll find that lots of people find a favorite ecig that works for them and they just like to recommend it to others and talk about it. I have a 501 and then bought the Vapor King and I know exactly how JenJen feels. Many folks here like to encourage those new to ecigs to get one of the good PV models so they will stick with it and not go back to analogs. Everyone has their own personal favorites of course :)

I am new too. I am still smoking a few analogs (reg. cigs) as I have only been using ecigs for 2 days now. In my opinion ecigs are not exactly like smoking a real cigarette. Taste not quite as strong & the smoke/vapor doesn't feel as heavy in your lungs. Sometimes, I already think I like the ecigs better. I only have 3 flavors as yet. 2 are tobacco & 1 sample of Dr. Pepper. I am really diggin' the DR. I was very suprised. At least your ahead of the game having already quit the analogs!!:) I think this is going to be right up your alley. Very best of luck to u!!

PS. I think you should stick to 0nic or very low nic. :D

What I wanted but for decades considered impossible came true for me, overnight, just a few weeks ago. You are in for one very pleasant surprise. Be patient with yourself, have fun learning all the pros and cons of the various models, and you'll have a personal favorite before you know it. :)

Heh, yes, that is exactly how it is. I'm exactly where JenJen is myself. It feels as if a burden has been lifted and it's a big thanks to the little device I carry with me at all times now. Some of it was willpower, but not much to make it seem like a pain. They really feel like a blessing to us who have been wanting off analogs.

Quite honestly, if I hadn't found the VK, I would have ended up back on analogs. So yeah, I am very enthusiastic about it. If that offends you I apologize. This is the New Members forum and many people here are looking for an easy to use ecig that will work for them. I myself spent hundreds of dollars on other ecigs before finding the VK. Some people here don't have the luxury of spending hundreds of dollars on something they will never use. I smoked a pack a day for over 20 years, and tried to quit many times with patches, lozenges, gum and failed every time. If it is wrong to tell them what I think about something that literally saved my life, then I have misunderstood the reason for this forum.

You don't offend me, but you sound like you are advertizing with every post you make, and it's kind of a turn off. If you want people to listen to you, take your advice, tand not tune you out, then maybe you need make some adjustments.

I am just being honest.

I only do that in posts where people are specifically asking what ecig they should get. I'm sorry if it comes off as advertisement and it seems that I say the same thing but I am trying to get my point across. The 510 is great if you don't mind the hassles of dripping, topping off carts and cleaning out the attys. Or buy an odd looking mod to make it perform. Lots of people love the 510, there are lots of people who don't for the same reason. I am simply trying to help people decide by pointing out the differences before they invest 100's of dollars.

If I am guilty of anything, it is of over enthusiasm lol. I will tell you this. I bought the 510 from TW and thought this was it. I bought 2 complete starter kits for my brother in laws to get them off smokes (probably almost $400 in kits and carts and extras) and spent about $300 for carts and extras for myself. They I found that it was too much work for me and was quickly losing interest and thinking about smoking again.

Then I discovered the VK from some other over enthusastic person who was thrilled to finally find something that worked easily and tasted great. I gave it a try and all the 510 stuff is gathering dust. (I actually have been sending parts and carts to people who seem to like the 510 and sound like they could use some help for free) I still have the 2 unopened titans sets with PCCs because I decided to get VK for my brother in laws too! I also bought kits for my sister and aunt.

In fact, if anyone wants to try the manual VaporKing and doesn't love it, I would gladly trade them the Titan 510 kits with all the extras too! ;) And that is a bonafide offer! They are black manuals starter kits and look very sharp. Also titanium pcc with titaniam manual battery and atty, and I will even throw in some titan black mega batteries never opened and lots of carts.

So while I am overenthusiastic perhaps, I definately put my money where my mouth is lol! :pervy:

Happy vaping in whatever you use!

Giantsfan,

I'm also new at this. I got my 510 on Saturday and enjoy it.

Here is a link to my thread which details my experience with the first few days. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/new-members-forum/39555-skeptical-smoker-trying.html

I choose a 510 based on review videos and overall consensus here. I'm happy with my 510 but I have not tried any other model so I can't offer an opinion.

We'll never all agree on which PV is the best, just as we couldn't agree on which cigarettes are the best. I've found most regular smokers love either Marlboro or Camel but hate the other. Newport vs. Salem is the same way.

The juice RY-4 gets very good reviews but I don't care for it.

I think you're on the right track. Pick an e-cig based on reviews that you think you'll like and go with it. After a few days you'll understand what the reviews are talking about, and know more about what you want and any equipment you may also need.

Some of your assumptions and opinions may change. These are questions I had when shopping at first:

- Does it look and feel like a cigarette?
- How much does it taste like cigarettes from brand x?
- How expensive is it?

Valid questions, but they are a little of the mark a few days into it. I think better questions are:

- What flavors might I like to use?
- How good is the vapor? Is there enough vapor?
- How can I travel with this?
- What nicotine level is best for me at this time?
- Is there anything I dislike about the model I bought? / Would I now prefer model x?

Most of all...

- Could I now help my friends and family who smoke switch?

Best of Luck Giantsfan. Post back and let us know what it goes.

I don't care for the Ry4 either lol! When I was using the 510, I found the juice for Nhaler to be awesome! The High Voltage flavors are terrific and are 12mg. He also has higher nic stuff, and is a pleasure to deal with! You will find that dripping on the atty, or topping off the carts will give you the flavor and throat hit you are looking for, and if you are like many of us, the tobacco flavors will soon lose their attraction as you find other flavors. Nhalers cream and coffee is a fave of mine and I still use them to refill my VK cartos. The banana cream was killer - really surprised at how much I loved that one, and the blackberry frappacino is excellent. Bottom line, don't be afraid to experiment with other flavors and vaping will become a truly enjoyable pleasure - much more so then smoking!

Good luck to you - you are going to love this!

Just an FYI - throat hit increases and flavor decreases as the nic level goes up. I vape the low nics at night when I just want to chill with yummy flavors! ;)
