What it looks as if you are asking is: how many cigarettes is 5ml of 36mg
e-liquid equal to?
The problem is that there is no answer to this because everyone's tolerance to nicotine is different, and this means the answer is different for everyone. There is a factor 10 difference in nicotine tolerance between individuals, so what is right for one person could be ten times too strong, or ten times too weak, for another. There is only one answer to this question: what feels right for you.
However here is a method for you to use in order to determine the number for yourself:
1. 1ml of
e-liquid is about what is contained in the average carto - a Kanger 35mm x 9mm cartomizer as supplied to fit a regular KR808 or 510 mini ecig.
2. Experienced users say that a cigarette "is equal to 3 or 4 drops". In other words, once they have got the nicotine strength right, then 3 to 4 drops lasts long enough to do the same job that a cigarette did for them.
3. There are about 22 drops in 1ml, so we now know that 1ml (assuming you can use all of it out of a carto, which you can't) is the equivalent of from 22 / 3 = about 7 cigs, to 22 / 4 = about 5 cigs. So 1ml = about 6 cigarettes. Or if you like, 1 carto = about the equivalent of 6 cigs.
4. This tells us how many 'cigarettes' you can get out of X amount of liquid or out of a carto. Now you need to adjust the nic strength to suit yourself. It doesn't matter what your nic strength is, you still get 6 cigs out of 1ml of liquid.
5. You can start with 18mg nicotine strength if you like, as that is medium strength and commonly available. 24mg is strong, 36mg is x-strong, and 45mg is xx-strong.
6. If you can successfully use 18mg strength, are fully satisfied, and have no cravings, then you've cracked it. But, if you find yourself chain-
vaping and/or have cravings, then try stronger levels of nicotine.
7. If, on the other hand, the 18mg level is too much - you get a head swimming feeling; headache; fingertips tingling; the 'just come out of a loud rock concert' effect (you feel spacy and your ears are ringing); racing heart; can't sleep; then you are over-consuming the nic and need to go lower.
8. There is absolutely no way to tell in advance what nic strength you will need: some people who smoked 2 cigs a day need very high strengths, some who smoked a pack a day need very low strengths.
There is no way to tell. Some people cannot overdo it on 6mg strength, and conversely there are even cases of persons who went up to 60mg before they got it right. There is a ten times difference between people and there is no way to tell in advance, it certainly is not possible to say something like, "I smoked 15 Marlboro a day, what nic strength do I need?". This is irrelevant. You have to try it and see.
9. Once you have found your preferred 'basic' nic strength, then also get some liquid one step higher, for first thing in the morning or for high-stress times; and one step lower, for use last thing at night.
10. Over time, it may be a good idea to see if you can drop one strength every few months.
