More mouse tricks....

Top 10 computer mouse tips everyone should know.

Select with double and triple click
Any word can be selected by double-clicking the word. If you want to highlight the whole paragraph or sentence, click the mouse button three times on any word. Try it now on this paragraph by clicking three times fast on any word in the paragraph.

[I see the three click selects the whole post here. Not on the linked page though - coding?? ]

Use the mouse side buttons
Many new computer mice also have buttons on the side of the mouse. These buttons can be programmed to do anything, however, by default the left-thumb button can be used to go back on a web page. This makes browsing the Internet more enjoyable since you do not need to move the mouse cursor to the browser back arrow button in order to go back a page.

Clicking 3 times only highlighted the paragraph for me in Chrome. Thanks for that. :)

I understand redirects are still being fixed.

Just wondering if bookmarks I saved for specific posts will ever work?

If I linked to a thread they work. But if I linked to a post they don't. They take me to the first post in the thread.

These links to show why the new redirect does not work. It is because the page number is not in the URL.
My saved bookmark:
Its woodvil time | E-Cigarette Forum
New redirect:
Its woodvil time | E-Cigarette Forum
Post URL:
Its woodvil time | Page 37 | E-Cigarette Forum

If you linked to a specific post, it's unlikely the redirects will work due to the major differences in how they're tracked.

Thanks. That was my thinking also. I am in the process of finding all my bookmarked posts and saving the "new" url. A pain, but in time I will get them all!

Great tip! Thanx!!!

Another "tip" I could not live without (works for Windows 7...YMMV)...Pointer Snap To:

"Any time you change a setting on your PC, you have to press OK for it to take effect, right? Isn't it a little repetitive to have to press that button every single time? Wouldn't it be nice if your mouse would automatically do it for you?

Well, it's possible and here's how! You just have to enable the "snap to" feature for your mouse. To do so, go to Start, Control Panel and click on the Printers and Other Hardware link. Choose the Mouse link and then click on the Pointer Options tab. The second choice there is Snap To. Checkmark that box and click OK.

So, from now on, your mouse pointer will automatically move to the default button in any dialogue box. Every time you're doing something on your computer, the mouse pointer will take care of the finishing touches for you and you won't have to worry about moving your hand back over to your mouse."

it seems to be the elephant in the room that no one has mentioned -- why the site was down all last night? We left here around 3 to go see my mom after she got home from the hospital -- got home about 10 and watched Penny Dreadful... when I came in here at 11 and tried to see my Watched Threads... the site was down and stayed that way; lots of posts on Twitter about WHY???????? and I even posted on FB, and never got any response -- so WHY was it?

If possible, I'd like to see double clicking on the 'ecf bubble' enabled for 'forum read', like it was in vb. Barring that, returning the 'mark forum read' to it's original spot rather than the new placement under "..." would be nice. Perhaps put 'Calendar' ?? in that spot.

eta:
For that last I see it's how big of a window determines that and the default takes out the far left placement?? rather than the last.

Also is there a way when you view an Alert, that it marks that forum/thread as 'read'? As it is, if you check Alerts, then 'watched threads' it shows up in 'watched threads' as not read.

IDK if this helps you or not, but I have my middle mouse button set to open link in new tab. I use that for ALL sites. Depends on your mouse and your settings.
<--- Burying himself in his cubbyhole to work out how this might make his life better

I have been in the habit (for a few years now) to always right click on links...
And always choose "Open link in new tab" as an ingrained habit...

Makes life a lot simpler.

They should work... try disabling all of your extensions and restart Chrome as a test... then see if the problem still exists. If it's gone... it's one of the extensions... enable them one at a time to find it.
The who is in the what now?

So I Googled Chrome extensions and found the following extensions that I have enabled at this time...
--Google Docs
--Norton Security Toolbar
--Ubuntu light-themes scroll bar
--Website logins

This hovering thing is something I am motivated to solve.
Wish me luck!
