it sure would come in handy, robino
wink.gif

used to be so easy to get people on the right track when they had questions and i never realized the link is absent now until somebody questioned me about the verification process and i had to scramble to find the relevant thread.
I know! Right? I have to dig for where that link is, also. I need to find it and place it in my bookmarks :(

Just to add to the chorus concerning the Alerts and when a Member's name shows in a pop up . . .

The "ECF Member" name pop-up does not work like it use to with the old interface when you could click on the name and it would insert the name into the post - nor does it work in the search option no matter how many times I have tried . . .

Also, as for being Alerted when someone quotes, likes, or tags "You" in a post I have noticed that it does not always send an "Alert" - nor are some of them recorded on the "Like's You Received" page . . .

Just thought someone might want to know . . . :D

In the search, I think I know why. You need to uncheck the box that says 'This thread'. If you are un-checking (it is defaulted to be checked) then I opologize. ;)

Have you actually opened the alerts page to see if more are showing up there?
Jup I went back a few days and checked there on the ones that don't show up, they don't show up on there either. Most of the time it works, just not all the time.

this has always worked for me.

pretty sure I didn't change anything here, but my search is defaulted to have "this forum" checked. I'm usually checking threads though, not forums so have to change it

I seem to always get my Alert notifications (except for Likes Alerts, which I have turned off) . I'm on Chrome on a Chromebook. Maybe a Mobile v. Desktop/laptop site issue???
Using an iPad here and all alerts ( that I know of) work for me. Using the mobile version, I think.

My brain hurts now....need more coffee...

And I have my likes alerts turned off also

As for the search option - when I have use it - the default checked box is actually "This Forum Only" . . . However, whether or not "This Thread" or "This Forum" is checked, when the ECF Member's name pops up and you click on it it does not insert the name into the "Posted By Member" search box as it use to in the old interface - nor will it do it in a post as it use to either . . . All it does is bring up the ECF Member Name & Avatar (if they have one) . . .

It does for me. Again, maybe device specific????

(Sorry for replying to you, @Uncle. I know you don't like seeing me do that.)

And another Damn.

Another possibility, the pop up box only shows a limited amount of alerts. Have you actually opened the alerts page to see if more are showing up there?

For example, I had something like 23 alerts. I could only see x amount in the pop up window. I have open the page, where they are held, to see all of them listed.

AND - When I first come on to ECF - I get a whole list both in Alerts and the "Likes Received" page, however they do not always match-up, especially when it comes to someone quoting one of "My" post it will sometimes shows up in the Alerts and other times not at all and I only notice when I go to that specific thread (BTW: It also happens with "likes", there are more for a post that show on the thread and not on the like page or in the Alerts) . . .

BTW: None of this is meant as a complaint - nor that it really bothers "Me" - it is just to be informative and to verify what some other people are already saying . . . ;)

Just had something happen, now that I'm watching for stuff (thanks a lot :sneaky: ). Two people quoted one of my posts, only one alert. Possible that when my post gets quoted, the system recognizes that the same post is quoted and that one alert should get my attention to bring me back to the thread. A bit of a redundancy checker ?

I actually am on a laptop computer, just tried the search and post again using both @tiburonfirst and @Robino1 (using both IE and Chrome) to insert your names . . . After the ECF Member name pops up - I click on it and instead of being inserted the search box goes away and the name in the post just stays where I left off . . . SO I have to manually type the whole name for it to actually show up . . . Again - No big deal and just an FYI so that it can be checked out to help others who might be having the same "issues" happening . . . ;)

EDIT: Just used an Android Tablet & "Dumb-Smart-Phone" with the exact same results . . . ;)

EDIT #2: FYI - Just got 2 Alerts that I was quote by 2 different people, however only one showed up on the "Likes Received" page . . . :(
