Metric ....-ton

1. An amount that exceeds expectations of extremes, literally in metric weight.

2. An amount equal to a ton measured in increments of obese posteriors, usually for diorama purposes only.

ex.: There's gonna be a metric ....-ton of liquid awesome!

Helpful indeed!

Lol. Thanks for the definition there. That's great. I did spend a lot this month, but I'm set for the next three months now. Maybe some juice, or a couple more batteries, but I in no way "need" anything at all for a while now. Gonna use the saved cash for trip to bike week.

The term I am familiar with is metric ....-load, probably because a UK ton is bigger than a (metric) tonne. The US ton is smaller.

For those with filthy minds, it is probably an innocent term. A .... is a unit of volume equal to half a tun, from which ton derives. We still refer to rain-water collection tanks as water-butts, and as they are around 20 inches by 40 inches, that would make them about the right size.

I have been on a few and I have to say this is totally friendly and helpful. On many forums there is a lot of flaming and overall negativity. I notice that repeat questions are common but there is very little of the usual smack down. I never would have guessed that so many people quitting smoking would be so mellow, you'd figure you would all be ripping each others head off ... lol

Great place you have here, I'm learning a lot.

I skimmed many of the replies, and they all point to the same thought I had.... We are happy to have finally found a substitute for the smoking. Many of the other forums I have been involved with over the years have been hobby related. With hobby forums, there seems to be a lot of pi55ing contests, and once people get really good at whatever it is, and acquire high end whatzitdoodles, they feel superior, and belittle folks with less experience or inferior equipment.

With this community, there is a wonderful reward that we want to share. Many of us have battled with quitting smoking for years, if not decades, and now that we found something that works for us, and is proving to be the same for many others. With this in mind, we want to share as much info and encouragement as we can with people finding this wonderful therapy.

I know for myself that when I learn something new, I try it until I master it, then jump at the chance to help others overcome that hurdle. I make sure to pop in the New Members section at least a few times a week and welcome newcomers... I consider it paying it forward. I had a warm reception, and I want to perpetuate this good spirit. There are some long time veterans here who I have noticed do the same. I see them answer the same basic questions in a clear, concise way time and time again... It seems to be because they (we?) genuinely care, and want everyone to succeed.

So, welcome!!!! Sit down a spell, fill your tank and soak it all in!

Things I did not know.

I now find myself curious to know what the term may mean in other countries such as India or Japan.

After homework, it's Google time.

That info is at the bottom of the home page. Currently 177,756 registered members and over 21,000 active members. Not positive , but I think "Active" means number of members who have signed in in the last 30 days. Not to long ago there was a mod that said at the time there were between 100 to 150 new members signing up a day.

Thanks for the info, Bacc. I never noticed that banner at the bottom of the home page. I guess I always clicked on something before I got that far!
