I visited a thread about very cheap eliquid (forgot what it was called, but it was 50ml for around $7). When I visited that thread, I started to get a whole bunch of e-cigarette popups. Now, the forum is acting very slow, this is the only sub-forum I can access.

Now, whenever I visit this forum, I start getting popups again.

I am VERY confused!

(I really love this forum, and hate that I can't read and post in most of it! Also, I am not blaming this forum, but something happened ...)

I would appreciate ANY advice on how to get this to stop!

Are you still having problems, Sucrose? You posted about 90 minutes ago, and I didn't want this to go without comment. I was just on the thread you mentioned, and I went to the link in that thread to see if I had any problems. Everything worked fine for me, and I did not experience any pop-up or forum issues. What is the situation with your computer at this point?

I hope you have some decent malware scanning and removal tools on your computer, because it looks like it's infected.

AVG is a good, free malware scanner. I would suggest downloading that at the very least and doing a full system scan to see if you can find and remove whatever nasty piece of code that is doing this.

Here is a link to the AVG site;

I was thinking about all of these things when I made my original response, along with Spybot Search & Destroy and a couple of other tools that I use a lot. I probably should have posted that info immediately, but I was reluctant to do so because I didn't know what operating system Sucrose has or even if it was PC-compatible machine. I work on PC's all the time, but I don't spend hardly any time at all with Apple machines. Wasn't sure if it would cause a problem if the OP was on a Mac or similar.

You don't, by change ever use Limewire (or any other P2P malware spreading software) and while thinking you got a song, got hit with something else instead?

I have heard stories over and over again... then I get the machine in front of me, and the infection had nothing to do with getting the issue from http, but from P2P sharing (well mainly receiving). They just noticed the issue a few hours later.
