Hey guys,
This would probably fit better elsewhere, but I'm too new. I was at Reagan National yesterday, and I took my SE Gold up to two TSA officials and asked them what their policy was. They both said they didn't know. I showed them; I took a drag, blew out the "smoke," told them it wasn't smoke, and that there were no laws against doing it indoors, and I was basically just trying to get the actual on-flight policy regarding e-cigs. They didn't know. One said, "I'm sure we'll see a bulletin soon." I told them to get ready, because within a year, they would be seeing these things everyday. There are VERY few people who believe that water vapor with nicotine in it is somehow not as safe as 3-4k carcinogens and tar, regardless of the depth of studies done.

E-cigs are launching big!

A co-worker just returned from Disneyland. Security at one airport (don't know which one) came up and told her she could not smoke in the airport. She explained what they were and showed them. Their response was others will think you are smoking so you can't do it.

This actually makes sense to me and I would not have tried it in a non smoking area.

Kent is correct in that the vapor is mainly water vapor. PG and VG are hydrophilic (water loving) chemicals in that they attract water from your mouth and lungs (the reason that many report on here that they constantly sip water when they vape) and also the air around you when you exhale.

It is mainly (but not 100%) water from air you are seeing in the vape.

I've probably repeated this ad nauseum on this forum. Kent C and jerrydon, y'all probably know this. Water vapor is not visible. That's just a simple fact.

Clouds are not composed of water vapor. They are liquid and/or solid water. If they sink, or their temperature otherwise is forced to rise they will evaporate into water vapor, and will no longer be clouds.

to get back on topic, when I bought my first e-cig, (yes, the SE Gold One..yes I've DEFINITELY moved on..), it was in Las Vegas. I live in Toronto. Which meant I had to get it through not one, but TWO sets of Customs Agents.

When I got on the plane, I just buried it in my analog package, topped it off with my house keys, (no, there was absolutely NO reason to have those out and about when leaving Las Vegas, was there? Nope! Just thought that the more crap I could throw into one of the little 'personal effects' baskets the better!), and then topped the whole mess off with my jacket.

    Didn't even GLANCE at it.

But, who knows? Maybe I was just lucky.

I'd comment on using it on the plane, but when I hit the washroom to TRY and stealth vape, the battery was on the way out.

Not that it would have mattered. I mean, with the vapor produced by a SE e-cig? Probably would have thought I was chewing on a PENCIL...

True about the ad nauseum part - but most people don't know that and consider steam as water vapor - but the point being is that the components of the vapor that is a product of vaping is mostly water, not PG, VG, nicotine. The concern is about the composition of the vapor not the technical science aspect. Common usage is what will be used, and to tell people it's mostly water vapor not smoke communicates the point. I won't argue this any further :)

TSA knows about them. I take a complete kit of parts with me in my lugage as well as a couple full 901s on the plane plus... a battery box mod I built. I put the 901s in my laptop bag along with a 5ml bottle of juice. I also put the battery mod in my laptop bag with the batteries out of it, just lying in the pockets of my laptop case. No problems getting through any TSA so far. The kit of parts in my checked luggage was looked at a couple of times becuase the position of the zippers when I checked it in were different and the pocket where the kit was had been opened but everything is always there.

Please, please , please don't be stupid though and ruin vaping for all of us while traveling.

    1. Don't vape on the plane. You don't have to. If you really must on a long flight, hold it in until there is no vaper.

    2. In the airport, stealth vape there also. Do not let out a plume of vapor. In most people's eyes, where there's smoke, there's fire. Hold it in until there is nothing left to blow out. Sometimes you have to suck back a second time before exhailing.

I stealth vape in many airports and know one even cares but as soon as they see vapor, they're going to run and tell.

Make sure you stealth vape or you are going to ruin it for everyone.
