Maybe you can help me out. What is that Brown Gunk is see coating my atomizer wire when it hasn't been clean in 2 weeks of heavy vaping?
probably nothing to worry bout since it takes 2 weeks of heavy vaping to build up enough to coat your atty:2c:

Just because someone is a doctor does not automatically mean that they know everything. Perhaps all he knew was what he read in an article somewhere. New evidence on conditions, drugs, diseases, etc. come out on a near daily basis; it can be hard to keep up with all of that information.

Sometimes docs are wrong...they're human.

Indeed, and lest we forget...

True, but I expect my doctor to have an educational background rooted in modern science.

They should know the states of matter and the difference between boiling and burning. Ya' know, simple science stuff.

Another way to think about it is if that's what builds up on your atty, what builds up in your lungs? I've been vaping longer than 2 weeks.

Like I said before, I think vaping is healthier for me than smoking cigarettes. But I would be very naïve to think that there is Absolutely ZERO risk involved in ingesting PG/VG, Nicotine, Artificial Coloring and Artificial Flavorings.

All I need to do to convince myself is look a a cig filter after ONE USE to convince me that there is nothing worth worrying about coming out of a PV. Being a long time pipe smoker I can tell you, they get gummed up and nasty after only ONE DAY of use. I think you are obsessing over something very minimal, not something to be to concerned with.

Could it be that the OP’s doctor was referring to these residual, Carbon Based Compounds?

Um, boil some water until the pan is dry. The residue is not tar.

No PG or VG is 100% pure (be leery of claims otherwise) and will leave residue after boiling away.

Flavorings will leave lots of residue behind.

Add some corrosion from the coil wire and heat to these things and mix.

Still nothing like tar from combustion nor tar from crude oil except for it being a bit sticky, but so is the back of duct tape.

Or maybe the atty filters it 1st:D No I agree that there are probably risks, tar buildup not being included as one :2c:

I dont think anyone is suggesting htere is ZERO risk - just that there is no tar.
Im sure there's SOME risk but theres LESS risk than smoking burning tobacco and that's good enough for me.

My smoker's cough is gone, I have no wheezing and the meds I was taking for a condition exacerbated by smoking have been reduced from 3 a DAY to 2 a WEEK. Again, thats proof enough for me.

It is true that doctors can't possibly know everything, but I think a better answer would have been "I don't know anything about them" rather than throw out an answer that he/she hasn't researched. Why discourage someone from using an ecig rather than trying to quit tobacco?

We don't know the long term effects of ecigs but we sure do know the long term effects of tobacco.

I'd be looking for a new doctor too. Honesty is a valued asset in a physician, even if the answer is "I don't know".

Not obsessing... Just throwing it out there. I think the more people consider things, the better educated they are.

To be honest, I didn't know the effects of cigarettes when I started smoking them. True, I was 13, but I am now 40...and have smoked a pack a day of analogs for all of those 27 YEARS. I don't know the effects of vaping, it may be just as deadly...but I was dead from analogs anyway! I love vaping, I don't stink, my children and my husband have no side effects, and I am not a GROUCH or eating like a cow while I give up analogs. So, call me stupid...but I'm ok with whatever comes from vaping in the future!
