Great video juice Layer!!!!

I first heard of Sally in a column by Gary Cox over in the ECF InfoZone

Tide Turning, Signs Indicate

There's link to Sally's Washington Post piece in the comments section to Gary's column.

Great to see the Fox (pretty consistently pro-vape!) interview.

Btw, Gary Cox is a very gifted writer, and the ECF InfoZone is a wealth of great information!

Let's see a show of hands of how many people have ever visited this part of the ECF Universe...

That's what I thought... not very many ....

I also think every single vaper should go read the presentations from the E-Cigarette Summit held in November 2013

You'll be blown away by the information/analysis/data/etc etc etc!!!

The ECF InfoZone needs to be better promoted and visible to the ECF community!

Thanks for sharing. Good point made about people worrying about kids starting to vape. I will say this. I am concerned that children will start doing any number of harmful things that are perfectly legal, such as alcohol use, or (less so now) starting smoking cigarettes. One thing that has really impressed me about the vaping community in general is the fact that we do not advocate devices be used for illegal purposes, nor for those under the age of 18.

All that being said, people who, for whatever reason, feel the need to "evangelize" really bother me. I haven't drank alcohol in years, yet I don't have the need to bother drinkers about the potential harmful effects of alcohol abuse. I recently stopped smoking after 35 years, but I don't bother those who do smoke, except to not allow it in my home.

I really hate to say it, but I am somewhat happy that large tobacco companies may get into the e-cig game. The initial knee-jerk reaction to that might be that they have a bad name and reputation, and they do, for very good reasons. They also have the money and resources necessary to advocate for and defend vaping from excessive government encroachment. YMMV.

It would be good to recognize that big tobacco getting into vaping is a double edged sword.

First, we can expect them to put all that crap that is in cigs (the bazillion chemicals we were so happy to leave behind) in the juices they will make.

They will also likely be all for licensing/permits etc to be required to manufacture juices. Why waste time competing, when you can just have the doors of competition shut down?

Which leads us to prices, finally. How many of you think the price of juice won't skyrocket, when big tobacco comes in to regain their foothold in nicotine distribution?

+1

Totally agree!

Let them have the cigalike category, while the young whippersnapper companies continue the fast paced innovation & invention!

As much as I appreciate that Fox News is mainly pro-vaping in their stories, I would like to see someone on their network break a story about the link between all the recent legislation and BP. I really don't think this will happen though, as I'm sure their BP advertisers would pull their ads (and their money) so quick that poor old Rupert would probably have to sell one of his private jets.

!!!

Hadn't thought of the advertising $$ aspect - that would apply to virtually any and all major media!

I could see someone like Drudge, or similar that could take them on unencumbered by an influence....

hmmmm... anyone know any whistleblowers in BP or BC

Sidebar: why aren't all the corrupt charities collectively known by the "big __" moniker?

Mr. Chairman, I have a motion to offer for consideration by this august body:

I hereby propose that we adopt the nomenclature of BCC to represent all of the suspect big corrupt charities that are beholden to, and perform the bidding of their puppet masters: the pharmaceutical corporations

Do I hear a second? :D

Or should I pose the 'motion' over in the general section for a wider voting audience? ;)

I like your idea of a "Big" moniker for what I call the alphabets (charities), but I'm afraid BCC will be confused with "bottom coil changeable" (if you hover your mouse over BCC on this forum, that's how it's defined), or "bottom coil clearomizers" as I call them.

I've seen them lumped in with the ANTZ as Big Control, but that's something else again, really. Thinking.... thinking....

ETA: How about simply BC (Big Charities)? Still thinking....

Make no mistake - FOX has a right wing agenda, and they've laid claim to vaping as smoking (vaping?) gun for Dem nanny statehood. I don't think it's as much about our heath as much as it is about a deep seeded resentment based on party lines (and, hey, I don't have a dog in that fight).

I'm not being cynical, and only too happy that we get some pro-vaping media time. I'm just a little worried that this gets stacked on other rights issues such as gun control and abortion (I've seen all three mashed together in one FOX report, like they're one continuum) as a political argument.

OP, thanks for sharing.

So will Les Moonves, Jeff Zucker, Phil Griffen, Steve Burke and Bob Iger (or Anne Sweeney - whoever owns ABC), but yeah, Rupert may have to sell more of his private jets than the others.

According to contributing editor, Judy Lieberman, in the July-August 2005, Columbia Journalism Review, the CJR monitored the evening newscasts on ABC, CBS, and NBC for one week in April 2005, and found that network viewers saw an average of 16 ads for prescription drugs and on average 18 commercials for over-the-counter drugs every night.

In 1999, the five networks, including Fox News and CNN, received $569 million in advertising revenue from drug companies, according to TNS Media Intelligence. But by 2004, advertising revenue nearly tripled to $1.5 billion, according to Ms Lieberman.

As far as advertising dollars spent on print media, at the end of 2004, Ms Lieberman found that drug company ads for Time magazine totaled $67 million; $43 million for Newsweek; and the New York Times took in $13 million.

Of course more people will see the ads on Fox, since their ratings are so high. High ratings = more jets!
