Fraud???

Hello to everyone!
It's sad, that my first post on this forum about fraud, but I need your advice.

I have placed an order on the halocigs website last Sunday, and today I received the message from halocig's email, with request of my creditcard's photo.


It's fraud. :ohmy: It old good Credit Card fraud. But... From HALO? My order still not shipped and I can't get in touch with halo's sales support since Monday! So maybe somebody on this forum can give me some comments.... I can't call to Halo because I live in Russia, and International call is expensive, and my English is bad... I called to my bank, they said than my card is OK, and my transaction to Halo was successful.

I just don't know what to do think :unsure: . May be somebody here can give me an advice?

It appears that the issue has more to due with the CC processing company, which Halo is dealing with and directly with Halo.

As CC fraud becomes more of a common everyday occurrence, people are reviewing their bank accounts more frequently to spot unauthorized activities.

Welcome to ECF. :) Good advice Cherrycakes!

I'm sorry to hear of this situation, but I doubt if a vendor would request a copy of a credit card. I have never heard of any supplier for any industry doing such a thing. My suggestion is to make 4 more posts, legitimate - welcome others, introduce yourself, etc., and then go to the Halo forum (Halo) for assistance. It sounds like maybe Halo's email was hacked or spoofed.

Also, please note I had to edit your post, as it is against forum rules to post an email or PM in the open forum. So just summarize what the email was requesting, and why, and that should work ok.

Hi CSX_ and welcome to ECF. Something sounds fishy about the email. CC company would've contacted you directly and if fraud was suspected the card would have been frozen/ cancelled. After 5 posts here wait 1 hr for the ECF servers top reset and ypu can post elsewhere and send/ receive pms. here's the Haloecigs ECF Forum:

Got a reply from Halo. JB said that he can cancel my order, but I can hide all info on my card except last four digits.
Sound legit. I asked him to make comments in this thread, but JB said that vendors are not allowed to Post here. But sent me a friend request =)

My card is with the insurance now, and I don't keep much money on this account %D So..... I did it.

Anyway, I apologize to HALO for this thread. Maybe it needs to be deleted?
I was confused, and "Fear have big eyes"...
Sorry Halo and JB, your liquid is BEST, and my Card is good. I hope my card and your liquid will meet each other in future again :D

I got a different (not fraud) email from a different vendor's address, welcoming me and giving me my site password IN THE CLEAR!

I got mad and contacted the vendor, and they said their CC-processing company sent that as part of the CC service, and that they trust the CC company to handle things correctly.

They named the CC processing house and it is a VERY famous one!

(And, no, that's not secure. Trust me, that's my field.)

No need to apologize as you had a legitimate concern and we all appreciate your heads up :thumbs: CC fraud is a serious concern to all of us and I don't believe you over reacted. Thank you for the update and very glad it was resolved.

Just sent a message as reply and with cs@halocigs.com as copy. I said that I have no intention to send a picture of my card, and that I want my order refunded or shipped.

That's exactly right. Nobody asks for a photo of a credit card! Something is wrong.

Halo probably uses another company to do the credit cards. And it seems some of those companies have been "hacked" lately. It's affecting other vapor companies too unfortunately.

Hopefully they can get it straightened out soon...
