Freaky LED problem

Something weird is happening to the red LED on my mod.

I'm guessing it's about to die... but it sure is exhibiting some weird symptoms.

Symptom #1:
When there is no atty, the red LED looks orange when you press the button. With an atty connected, it turns to red again when pressed.

Symptom #2:
After symptom #1, a new one came along... Now it's flickering when I press the button. And it's a fast flicker.

I'm pretty sure the LED is about to die, but it looks really weird. I've had LEDs die on me before, but never like this.

Is this a common LED death? Or has something gone wrong with my mod that's causing this to happen?

What kind of power are you putting into it and what resistor do you have on it?

You must be overpowering the LED and yes the flickering is what they do before they die unless you have a loose connection . LEDs will change wavelength (color) when being over powered past their typ rating . A red LED when being overpowered will turn more orange . Most likely they are being overpowered and when atty is connected the voltage drop is bringing the LED voltage back down to safe levels

All LEDs run at different specs so you must know the FV and current to be able to calculate the proper resistor .
