I've been looking into rda's that can be run in single coil and I stumbled upon this one. I've read and Watched a ton of reviews and it seems very straightforward. The only downside is it seems tricky getting your build just right to reduce leaking. But it's supposed to be a good flavor producer which is why I am interested in it. I am new to rda's, still waiting on my first one to come in, so would you guys recommend it for a beginner?

Also I've read of folks shorting out using metal drip tips. Will I have to buy a special tip for this rda?

Thanks

Hmm, I'm not sure I would recommend it for a beginner! It was very fiddly when I first got it (I am not new to rebuilding, but my first build on this atty took me an hour because I snapped my leads on the post screws). Even after the initial learning curve, it would still spit juice in my mouth and leak. I was able to stamp out both of these issues by using twisted wire and making sure all of the cotton was clear of the upper deck (which is where the airflow is). I only use dual coils on it. I would imagine it would perform well in single coil mode, but only if you use plenty of cotton!

So, here is a link to the build that fixed all of my issues. By no means is this a beginner build! Honestly, I would recommend the Magma RDA for some noob friendly single coil action. But, if a challenge is what you want, the freakshow mini certainly delivers a vape that makes the learning curve worthwhile!

So after 2/3 careful consideration and 1/3 impulse I decided to pull the trigger and order one. I purchased the mutation to learn on so I figured I might as get the fs mini to learn even more. Hearing it is tricky to perfect actually made it a bit more appealing to me haha. I like having a challenge and based on what you guys have said as well as other reviews I've read it's worth the challenge. I also picked up a chuff cap to go with it since I am unsure if my current drip tips will fit it. My drip tips are all ss so I don't want to risk shorting out with them. I would like to pick up a wide bore 510 eventually from drip tip designz for it. Does anyone know if their tips will fit?

I'd say nay, the mutation x v4 xs is coming out soon and it's pretty much a slammed version of the v4. So instead of bottom only AFC you have the sides and bottom, in a small form factor like the freakshow mini.

Is that from vapordna? Wish I knew about that sooner! I guess I'll have to pick one of those up haha. Do you know when they come out so I can set some cash aside.

I don't know when they come out exactly, but I came across a pic of the build deck on it, and I gotta say it looks solid. 4 post instead of 3, looks like they just shrunk everything instead of drastically changing posts and what not. And yea it's from vaporDNA. It seems like they do all of the PSO designs according to PSO's Instagram, VaporDNA is their flagship store.

Yay all day. I'm skeptical of the new pso mutation xs. If you compare the x4 with side airflow closed vs the freakshow mini, the mini absolutely crushes it on flavor even with the comp cap.

Yeah I'm going to wait for some reviews to come out on the mutation 4s before deciding to buy one. I'm loving the fs mini. Just received it today and built a 28g 1.5 ohm coil on it and the flavor is great. I'm thinking of picking up one more.

I've had my FS mini for a couple of days after only using an igo-L. I think I have a decent build after watching a couple of videos.

I bought my first wide bore drip tip today at a B&M to make sure it fit properly and didn't recess into the cap onto the post or coils.

One good tip is to get into a rhythm of using it until it's almost dry before pocketing it; I use it nonstop.

I'd like to see a FS Mini with X4-style bottom air channels, actually. A row of airholes will always trump a closed off vent for flavour, IMO.

I was surprised I gotmy first build right. Most folks were saying it was tricky to position the coilso it won't spit back. But somehow I did it haha. My coil is just slightly over the bottom airflow.

I bought the top cap with a chuffed on it. I did not know if my 510 drip tips would fit so I bought it as a precaution. But luckily my 510's fit with no problem. Both caps give great flavor and airflow.

Thanks I'll remember that. I don't need juice leaking out into my pocket.

Thanks, I am too haha. I'm sure my first build was beginner's luck though. The next coil I build on it is almost guaranteed to be a flop with the luck I have haha. My only complaint with it isii am just burning through juice on it. I don't think I'm vaping any more than usual or taking longer pulls. It may just be my imagination though.

You're comparing a mini vs. a full sized rda. Most people would agree that a smaller chamber size produces better flavor. I'm skeptical about the v4 xs as well, but it offers more in terms of versatility. The flavor you get from your rda is contingent on how your wicking and wire are set up, I've gotten great flavor on my derringer with loosely twisted 26g, and I've gotten great flavor on my v4 with fused claptons, side airflow closed.
