"freezing" juice?

Bearscreek I too was confused but I wrote about 10 different dealers/manufacturers and to the letter each one suggested the fridge. Not freezing mind you but because each one suggested the same thing I went with that. I had mentioned to them that I live in a state that gets quite hot in the summer and I don't have air conditioning so that might make a difference too. However because of Sun's and some of the other posters and their suggestions and experiences I opted to put it in a dorm fridge I have and keep the temps in that on cool.

I wish I had a small fridge. Then I could keep it around 60 or so. I got my juice out the other day. My house may usually stay about 80 in the summer, but my AC went kablooie last night, and I'm not sure how fast it can be fixed. I put a couple of freezer packs in with my juice, though. The house is only about 84.5 right now, but it's supposed to be quite a bit hotter outside tomorrow than today. My instinct for something like this is always for the fridge, though. I was thinking about doing a poll to see where people's juice was stored IF it went bad. I've actually gathered quite a stockpile and want to make the best decision.

I'll unfreeze my bottle of coffee flavored tomorrow and let you know how it taste.

Finally unfroze my bottle of 18mg coffee ( you do the math on how long i had it in the freezer, I meant to take it out weeks ago...lol). Well, not actually unfroze (didn't freeze at -10 Fahrenheit) Let it warm up to room temperature after a few hours. Color, flavor, and viscosity remained unchanged. Seems fine to me.

Now that's interesting!

The "math" shows 22 days. Mine was in the refigerator for many months. So I would think Steve, you whould have to wait a lot longer to see if long term storage creates issues.

Sun, how many months was your juice in the refrigerator before it went bad? How many months have you had it out of the refrigerator and at room temperature?

I've tried to find the middle ground (because I DO believe what you're telling us), and because I live in Georgia with no air conditioning, I've put it in a dorm refrigerator set just below cool hoping I'm keeping it at a temperature that's close to a cool air conditioning.

As you know I wrote many of the suppliers/manufacturers and they ALL advised to keep it in the refrigerator, but I got to thinking,.... "and how many of these suppliers/manufacturers keep the same bottles of juice for months and months?" It stands to reason that the short amount of time they have it on hand before it sells wouldn't stand the test of months.

Thanks for being here and trying to help. I know I, in speaking for myself, can sometimes be very hard-headed so I hope you'll forgive the continual questions!

Hi Sharon--I dared to enter this thread again--LOL. I did so only because I just can not explain how I lost that much e-liquid from 4 differnet manufactures other then it was in the Fridge and I would not like to see others have the same happen to them. That e-liquid was in there 3-5 months. I have other e-liquid here that has been around since last August that is fine---been opened and I really did not like the flavor---but it is still as good as the day I bought it.

My own thinking on this is that it was the moisture and condensation from the fridge that caused it.

People really have to do what they think is best--but I have yet to read one post on here about e-liquid going fowl by storing it with not to many special considerations.

Thanks Sun, bless your heart, I think you just care too much and want to help. I'm going to look at that dorm fridge again and see if I can lower it even further. One good thing I've noticed is I've got it so low the top little freezer section doesn't freeze anything and all the ice that was in it is gone. So perhaps I'm headed in the right direction and just keeping it slightly cool, as if it were in a home with the air conditioning set really high.

I just feel really strong that you are telling us a truth that happened to you and there is no way you want that to happen to any of us. Thank you for that!

Thanks Sharon. I know there are other "old timers' here and really wish they would post about e-liquid they have had just laying around in the house that they also did not like and state whether it is still good.

I think you are on the right road Sharon, with going cool but not cold with your little Fridge. So good luck and by Christmas time maybe you can give us an update.

Thanks again.

I did have some 6 month old juice at room temp that was fine.
I have juice in fridge for 3 months that's fine also.

I wonder if Sun's failed juice was subjected to fluctuating temps, failed light switch, signs of mold in fridge or any other anomaly?

Is it possible the four failed juices were subjected to an atmospheric contaminate in which the good juices were not subjected?

Wonder if the liquid was stored inside a box to minimize temp fluctuations.

Wish I knew more details.

Hmmm.....

There's all kinds of variables, I can only attest to my freezers conditions. It's a deep freeze with a fast freeze option. It's at my parents, they are .... about it being in pristine condition as they store garden vegetables and such in there. It's only opened on average once a month. Relatively no temperature fluctuation or foreign contaminants. I would not stick juice in my freezer at home. It's always open and shut (god knows what's growing in that thing) The deep freeze i use is as close as you can get to commercial quality without being commercial. Keep in mind it has kept garden grown food good for 5+ years with no degrade in quality. I do believe however that the act of putting pg in a deep freeze is free of problems. The problem would be the incorporation of the flavorings and nicotine and the actions of any foreign contaminants that might be unique to your situation. Pg can reach very high and low temperatures and neither boil or freeze. Most of the time anything suspended in it will adhere to the properties of the pg itself. As far as flavorings and such, they are food products and subject to temperature change. Just like how you should not thaw and then refreeze raw meat. You can move to warmer temperatures but never backtrack (after an initial freeze). I would feel that in my case I would be fine as long as I only unfreeze what I am going to use and never refreeze.

Of course I obviously can't be sure about my deep freeze success until sometime next year. I guess i'll stick some more in for the long haul (in the name of science of course). I guess a bottle from JC, MV, and Lightinthebox (5ml vials). Just remind me to unfreeze them when the times up (of course if a juice shortage ensues I'll have to use them..lol). Of course my juice remaining good would only indicate it is a viable alternative under near perfect circumstances.

I will give you all the details you would like--the Fridge in question is a new stanless steal 30 side by side ( it is huge). There was about as much chance of mold being in there as the hell freezing over. And the light is just like any other light in any fridge.

You see part of the problem here is that very few of us where doing stockpiling a long time ago. I was one of them. Many are new to the game--not to vaping, rather to stockpiling. So after 6 months of storing e-liquid or longer---then the reports may come in.

Again I will state that I contend that opening and closing the Fridge door caused condensation as with anything else stored in the Fridge and the moisture killed the e-liquid.

Thanks for the info, Sun.
If I kept all my juice in the fridge, I wouldn't have room for a quart of milk! 8-o lol

I am trying to get to strictly unflavored juice that will be kept in the glass bottles I bought. I'll find something to flavor it with until I get back down to zero nic. lol

Meanwhile, I got about 40 bottles of flavored stuff that I don't realy like. What a waste.

Yet, I keep buying... in search of the perfect pre-mixed juice. :D

:( I'm right there with you. I've got a metric crap-ton of juice I don't even like but I still keep buying. Oh, and btw, I keep it all in a dark closet in a safe so no one can steal it from me. ;)

LOL--Angl--I know the feeling. I have bottles all over the place of flavors that do not make the grade or are just to sweet or too weak. Finding the Holy Grail for me has been difficult to sat the least. But all these flavors that I do not like, I may learn to like real quick if the ban hammer comes down. --LOL

Perhaps we can compare notes and trade some. lol

All of my stuff is stored in a dark, climate controlled environment...but not in the fridge. And the only person here to steal any....is ME! LOL

Amen, brother...AMEN! :nun: lol

Although, I am hoping to trade mine out for unflavored first.
