Okay, now I owe y'all a picture, but I finally did it and the answer is: Beautiful brushed metal, at least on mine, with the white plastic mouthpiece plug essentially flush into the end of the metal cartomizer pipe. I don't know what metal it is (steel? aluminum? cadmium?) but it looks as good as a stainless battery. I peeled one that was developing an extra-annoying lift at the seam... the adhesive is extremely gooey, but a lot of patience with olive oil and a paper towel will get it clean, I'll try the freezer trick next time.

ATTN: Kanger - You're shooting yourselves in the foot by not offering them like this! Not only does it look a lot better (no more weird extra tape-width-thickness on the carto vs. the battery), it 'feels' better - no more flaps of tape, no more struggling to figure out how to hold it to reach the battery button 'ergonomically' without the tape seam scratching my lips... Labeling would be an issue, but just stamp them or put a tape ring down away from the mouth end.

Are KR808d-1's compatable with 901's?

The KR808 batteries will take a 901 atomizer, but the cartomizer will NOT fit a 901 battery.
You can get an adapter that allows you to use a cartomizer with a 901 from Rob at Vapor Country.
This adapter is just like a 901 manual battery extender for your charger..except it has a hole for air flow!

Happy Halloween!

Hi MaryKay,

Any chance of re-posting these photos? On KR808D-1's but planning to grab a 901 set, it will be a huge help before the plunge. Thanks and regards.

i’ve discovered that, better than using a corkscrew, binder clip attachment, hooked needle, or what have you—a blackhead extractor is the easiest way to remove the mouthpiece for refilling or cleaning.

it looks something like this:

you can find them near the tweezers/nailclippers, or in the makeup aisle near the eyelash curlers/pumice stones/foam wedges in any pharmacy [i.e., cvs…walgreens…rite aid…duane reade.] i imagine beauty supply stores like sally’s & sephora might have them as well. they’re cheap…$2 or $3 bucks.

unlike the other implements, the extractor tip doesn’t get caught on the metal hook or filling ever, & it’s just easier to manipulate because the mouthpiece stays stuck on it until you nudge it off…no jumping & rolling willy-nilly.

Standard KR808 Cartomizers are shipped from the factory with 1 ml of juice. Not sure what Cartos you are using but 1 ml is equal to 25 drops.

I'm a little confused as to what you by ,"fill a blank cartomizer, and how many to refill". But I'm gonna take a shot at what I think you are asking.

25.....Fill a fresh blank
*5-6...to top a Carto and keep it wet.

* Let's say you are doing a little steady vaping...taking a draw every couple of minutes. On a standard 3.7v batt after 1.5 -2 hours you should add 5 or 6 drops to keep your Carto wet and avoid burning it out.

Not sure if that's the answer you we're looking for.......but I gave it a shot. :p

If you look at the post about Condom Filling from today, I start off with measuring how many drops = 1 ml.

I started refilling my cartos after about 1 week of vaping. The only places I've ordered e-liquid from is Vapor Kings and V2 (the only liquid I get from them is their Sahara).
I clean my cartos using an ultra sonic jewelry cleaner and some cheap 100 proof vodka. Usually 3 cycles (about 30 minutes each) cleans out the cartos pretty good. If I have some especially horrid liquid in them (fresh Cig2O cartos) I'll use a turkey baster to force some fresh vodka through them after the 3rd cleaning.

In my carto days I used a sharp hypodermic needle. The legal aspects always worried me when on the road, [DUI check points etc...]. I have one of those 400 mile a week lifestyles. The blunt end Hypodermics made a squish-down squishy mess out of the filler material so a sharp one eliminated that. Farmers co-op stores sell these [not for human use] versions. BUT when you through the packaging that they come in away you can't prove to the cop the hypo needle is legal so let the legal blood letting begin. I got sick of the worry and got into carto-tanks for that reason. Lasts 24 hours on a carto tank 5ml size. Now I use the Genesis clones and the blunt needlle-bottle works just fine for those. Then again they last all day so refilling doesn't happen at work. If I was using cartomizers again, Two or three in the pocket would work, but the hypo needle would stay home. I believe the 808 makes a longer model option like most and that sucker should last way past lunchtime.
Now the real point[pun intended] When you use a needle you are or can fill it from the bottom of the well, as soon as the top of the matting gets wet looking YOUR DONE!!! no fuss, no sucking out, no air-track flooding, much quicker and neater.:toast:
