Hello,

This is my first post on here so bear with me.

Ok, so I have a ProTank 2 by KangerTech. It's on a 30 Watt (max) box mod. I have 10 wraps of 30 guage kanthal. Flavor wick on top. No leaks.
I've been vaping it (most recently) at about 8.2 watts and 4.8 volts. My mod box is set to adjust the VW or VV of the one it's not currently displaying (whichever one is in the background and not in big numbers on the LCD). It usually reads around 3.0 ohms. Right now it's reading at 2.8 after a little bit of vaping and "set-in" kanthal wire ..

With that info being said ..
I have no burnt cotton and not barely a spec of burnt anything on my wire other than normal.

I woke up this morning and it felt like I'd been vaping on burnt vape. I vaped some more and still the same. I've triple checked my coil (it's a single coil), replaced my cotton, etc. Still, no burnt anything except the vape itself.

Could it just be that I am possibly "frying" the vape itself at 8 - 10 watts and 10 wraps .. ?

I just this hour moved down to 4.4 volts, 6.9 watts at 2.8 ohms on the same setup and it seems to be fine. I've also noticed the flavor is a little stronger now, too ..

Any info on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Could be
a) fresh charged battery firing high, then "settling" to a slightly lower output?
b) Dry wick - the Protank sometimes has wicking issues - if your first few hits the wick wasn't saturated, it'll taste burnt - but then when wet, that burnt taste if you are LUCKY goes away. If the wick gets burnt too often or too long, then you may need to change it.

That'd be my guess - a borderline "dry hit"...

Your throat may just need a break. I have days when my throat tingles or burns after I've been vaping for awhile and I have to lay off a bit, even when my equipment is working optimally. Drink a lot of water, or maybe even some tea with honey, and pick up some Biotene to use after you brush your teeth.

Could be drying it out then it just wicks again. I'm not vaping on it any harder than normal. I haven't had this problem before. It won't fry the ejuice will it? It's only at about 8 watts and 10 wraps. Maybe just right on the edge of too many watts for this blend?

You should try dripping on a RDA. Its far more superior and will never run into those issues

Simple case of over enthusiasm.

Yes you can easily bake some flavors. Adding Power is not the answer. Finding the correct Temperature for each Vape, according to build/Tank, is key to satisfaction.

A Few of me setups reach 35w and one even works best at 80w, but most are well below 30w with a few pocket carries at 6w.

I'd say too much power.... I just started using my protank 2 mini again after "retiring" it for almost a year.... When I had it on vw devices, I would get burnt tastes even though the wick looked fine when running over 8 watts or so....
The same before vw, when running it around 4v, regardless of the ohms, it would taste burnt but it burn the wicks....

But... Out of retirement, I rebuilt a head with 28g to 1.1 ohm and wicked with cotton, got a ego to 510 adapter and threw it on my subox mini and had it up to 15w running perfectly....
