Hello every, Im new here (obviously) and previously used a eGo Ctwist. I just ordered my very first mod, and was wondering if I made a mistake or a good choice? I paid $50 for a panzer black hawk clone by fasstech with a omega atomizer. It came with an hgb 18650 2200 mAh 3.7v battery with the charger. To me this all sounds too good for the price of 50. If you're wondering I got it on ebay from a "trusted seller". What do you guys think?

Hard to give you an answer without sounding negative, same 'kit' ranges from $30 ~ $40.
I wouldn't use the battery, unknown cell, unknown CDR, unknown chemistry, unknown quality.
The charger is low quality, it will work but I'd watch it while charging and test the battery voltage to ensure it isn't over charging.

A mechanical has no safety features besides the one between the users ears.
Do you already have a dvom or at least some way to measure resistance & voltage.
Are you familiar with ohms law, wrapping & wicking your own coils and most importantly battery safety.

I have a hard time finding info on this battery... i don`t know if anybody here knows it`s amp limit. I would personnaly ditch these batts and get good ones. the purple EFests 18650 30A would be ok or sony VTC4 or 5 (if they still sell them) would be fine to.

If you jump from ego twist to mech + rda you have some studying to do. They are not plug and play devices. They can be dangerous if used like or by an idiot.

- Ohms law
- Battery safety
- Multimeter or resistance checker
- Working knowledge of battery amp limits

You will need to learn about those before doing anything.

but yeah.. for the price it`s probably fine.

EDIT: Oh yeah.... and buy an intelligent charger as well...

Hello and welcome to the forum. Glad to have you here!:)

+1 on the advise of Topwater Elvis & Steam Turbine.

I highly recommend you spend some time with Baditude (one of our resident battery experts) and visit his blogs. You are now 100% in control of your own safety (and others around you). Make sure you purchase an ohm reader and a voltmeter or DMM so you can measure your builds, check for shorts and measure the remaining charge on your batteries.

Baditudes Blogs. The blogs regarding mods and rebuildables are listed below:

BATTERIES

9. Battery Basics for Mods: IMR or Protected ICR?
* Another essential read to understand which batteries are safe to use in mechanical and regulated mods. Includes a frequently updated list of recommended safe-chemistry, high-drain batteries with their specifications.

17. Purple Efest Batteries Not As Advertised
* A cautionary blog that reveals that the purple Efest batteries may not have the specifications advertised. Also includes a commentary on "continuous discharge ratings" vs "pulse discharge ratings" of battery specs.

OHM'S LAW

14. Ohm's Law for Dummies (Vapers)
* My attempt at explaining Ohm's Law in layman terms and how it relates to vaping.

16. Explain it to the Dumb Noob: Ohm's Law Calculations
* As simple as it is to use, some people have a tough time grasping the concept. Warning: Includes graphic photos of mod explosions.

BATTERIES - WHERE TO BUY

Only buy batteries from a reputable supplier (not ebay or Amazon) as there are many counterfeit batteries being sold. Here are several reputable battery suppliers in the US.

* RTD Vapor
* Illumination Supply
* Lighthound
* Orbtronics

Hello, I have a friend who's willing to lend me his spare vtc4 so I'm not really coccerned. I've done some research and watched a few coil builds by Rip Tripperz. I do have a basic understanding in physics and my father is an electrician, I'm sure he has a measuring device around somewhere. I just needed to know the quality of the mod. Also would it be fine to keep the charger until I get more money?

I did not know that... Will research.... (It's been a while since i've been here.)

Thanks for the heads up... I've been using these for a long time now. Never had any problem so far. But I'll look it up.

Thanks for the heads up

I would not cheap out on batteies and chargers.. They are the most important part of your device.

As for the quality... You get what you pay for... A cheap clone is a cheap clone...

I don't know about the quality of that particular one but it's probably ok. Quality control on the other hand most probably won't be good.

Your battery is fine if it is this one: purple 18650 2100mAh 30A (rebranded Sony 18650VTC4)

The battery with problems is this one: purple 18650 2500mAh 35A* (rebranded LG18650HE2 2500mAh 20 amp*)

Information is in Baditudes blog.

I see... I guess that the amp limit printed on them are the pulse limit?

Sorry mrtodd211... I didn't want to hijack your thread....

Just know that battery safety is important!

Vape safe :toast:

Its all good friend :) safety is always number 1, but again I'm not worried about the battery. I'll try it out the first time after a full charge. As soon as it heats up I'm taking it out and disposing of it properly

It's all good. Defective devices are always fixable anyways if you are handy.

I'm pretty good at handy work. I have a whole workshop next to my room which belongs to my dad, who happens to be an electrician.

But one more question, which guage wire would work best if I want clouds, but nothing too hot that hurts my throat? I'm a musician so I don't want to mess anything up with heat.

Its not so much about gauge as it is about resistance

My regular setup is a 0.4 ohm dual coil using 28 gage. More than enough vapor for me without being ridiculously hot.

I do simple coils... Not even micro. I stay away from rip trippers macho coils as they are a waste of time for me. I'm not a coil porn addict.
