I'm frustrated beyond belief. I've been vaping for around a month now. I smoked my last analog on New Year's Eve, so I guess I'm around 11 days into vaping only.
Background - heavy smoker for 40 + years - Marlboro Reds - pack and a half a day minimum.
I started out with a cheap kit - ( had no idea what to get and had researched very little - I know - you get what you pay for ) - Using it I almost gave up before I even started - THEN - I found the E-cig forum -- thank goodness !
Next I ordered a couple of the 3.7 volt screwdrivers - have been very happy with those as far as durability, handling, ect... , however I quickly discovered I need something with some more kick ( throat kick ). I'm using the max nic strength - higher than 36mg - the truth is I'm at around 48 - ( Don't blast me please ).
So I start reading about the HV MODS - sounds great, so off I go blowing another few hundred on a couple of those with attys, adapters, batteries, etc... you get the idea. BUT, here's where I'm at right now - using both of the HV MODS I have now - the first couple of hits - WOW - just what the doc ordered - then within a minute or so or by the 3rd or 4th hit- I blow the atty -- I've read and read and read. I've asked questions and more questions - more or less what I'm doing now -- wait I think right now I'm venting, whining, not sure ?
I'm not gonna go into any brand names of which I bought, where, etc... because honestly, I think that has very little to do with it. I've read reviews of 99% of all the HV MODS out there and the bulk of them seem to be very common with only some cosmetic and convenience features making them each a little different from each other. The people I've delt with could not have been nicer or more helpful. I've read where 5 volts is the sweet spot and I believe that - that's what I was using when I blow the attys - one of the MODS is variable however I set it to 5 volts - the other is preset at 5 volts - so I'm not powering over 5 Volts - and I agree that 5 volts does or at least seems as if it would be perfect.
I realize from what I've read here and a zillion other places that you have to keep the atty very wet, which I have, you have to take very short - maybe 2 second hits which I do - you have to set it down for a couple of minutes to keep it from over heating which I do, BUT I still burn up the attys, cartos, etc.... at this rate, the frustration and EXPENSE is killing me.
The crazy thing is - I've read the reviews and I've watched the videos !
Folks, 99% of the videos of people doing the reviews or showing us newbies how great those HV MODS ARE NOT doing what we're being told to do to keep from blowing the darn attys - I sit here and watch them just sucking away - I'm talking WAY MORE than 2 second hits - more like 4- 6 second hits and waiting very little in between drags.
So I ask - is it me - am I cursed and just not meant to use a HV MOD ? For the life of me - I can't figure this out - I really want to get off the analogs and since I've only been 11 days without one - I honestly don't consider myself off them yet. I feel like I could cave in at any time.
I really, and I mean really want this to work out - if ANYONE can offer any suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong or anything that can shed some light on how I can use a HV MOD at 5 volts without burning up those darn attys - I'd be very grateful.
I have yet to ask any questions on this forum that I didn't get more than enough great suggestions. I'm hoping the same happens with this post, because honestly, there has got to be a way that I can get to the point where I hear everyone raving about how great vaping is !!!
Thanks in advance to all of you who chime in !!!!
