I've been vaping for several months, and I'm getting increasingly frustrated! I started on a Joye 510 with the PTB mod in the carts. Then I switched to an eGo with a LR atty and drip tip to simulate a HV experience. About a month ago, I started using the Janty cartomizers for the eGo as a matter of convenience. I've discovered I like a strong TH, and lots of vapor/flavor. (I have found a favorite flavor, though! :)) I like the convenience of the cartos, but the TH isn't satisfying to me.
My problem is consistency. I can't seem to get a satisfying vape no matter what I try. I must be doing something wrong. I'm seriously thinking about getting a different PV like a Prodigy, or the like. But...the info is a bit confusing to a layperson like me. Ohms, mAh, volts is all like Greek to me. I read and re-read the WWV guide, and it helped somewhat, but I still am confused--and on overload! :)

I'd like to have a strong TH, lots of vapor, and full flavor, without having to recharge or switch my batts every 2-3 hours. (That's what I like most about my eGo XL. I can use it all day on one charge.)

What would be your recommendation on which PV would meet the criteria I outlined? (Please, in plain English!) Thank you!!

You might try this 'primer' rather than the guide to avoid overload:

The one thing about the Joye cartomizer is that it has a different ohm rating than the 510 atomizer making it less hot and therefore less throat hit. I suggest trying the mega eGo atomizer and cartridges that hold 2.5ml of ejuice - less 'topping off' and easier to fill than the cartomizer - just like a regular 510 cart but huge. The atomizer in the mega eGo atty is the same as the 510 so you'll still be getting good vapor and TH. Available at many vendors but here's what you'd look for:

eGo cylinder mega atomizer
eGo cylinder mega cartridge

You are basically asking a common question: how do I get more power?

Until you get a system that gives too much, forcing you to cut back a bit, then in my opinion you don't have the right hardware. Some people (like me) need a lot of hit - meaning plenty of TH and vapor - and most of the hardware just doesn't deliver. So if you fix that, then most of the problem is solved. For example a stock 510 is a complete waste of time for me, it just doesn't deliver.

The cheapest way to up the hit is to get a 5 volt boxmod with a 510 atty. A Bartleby 5 volt or Ken's Boxmod will do it for less $$ than any other solution. You have to buy the boxmod plus 4 batteries, 14500's, plus a charger (two cells in use, two on charge). Maybe $75 will do it, not sure.

This set-up delivers a ton of hit, and if you get the right liquid then it will do the job - coffee and other 'heavy' flavors work well, also some menthol added tends to increase the hit. I add some tobacco extract as well, for those times when I need more hit. Some days I use the 5v boxmod more, some days the eGornado + LR. Depends on the liquid I'm using and my mood.

It's possible to mix up a 'megavape' liquid that will be easily enough when you need the max hit - for example a strong tobacco + menthol + mint + a touch of coffee or caramel will do it. Also you can use cinnamon but you need to be aware that this causes problems for some, strictly speaking it's one of those things you might consider avoiding unless desperate.

If that's not enough then you can go to 6 volts but I haven't found that necessary, and I do suffer from strong tobacco cravings sometimes. Five volts on a 510 plus a strong liquid does it for me. Also, if you get a 510-to-801 adapter, you can use an 801 on it, which is good for 'lighter' flavors that get cooked on a 510 at 5 volts.

Indeed, my WWV in the ECF Library is informational overload (and out of date) and not even that relevant to your concern. [Heck, at the time, I hadn't even heard of watts and ohms, let alone knowing what they were.] Portions of the updated Version 2 are relevant, but you'd have to hunt for them.

If you want to use those high capacity cartomizers and get a more intense vape, you'll need to use a higher voltage battery. [The eGO and its cousins are only about 3.4V.] A true 3.7V battery (e.g., 3.7V mods) might suffice, but the 5V box mods rolygate mentioned definitely would (although they might fry the cartos). I show other 5V mods on this page of my new Wonderful World of Mods.

However, I recommend checking out the new variable voltage mods. You may find, for example, that the perfect voltage for you when using mega eGO cartomizers is 4.4V. These variable voltage mods are shown on that same page. [In addition to the models mentioned there, I see that ProVape is about to come out with the ProVari mod. Guess what the "Vari" stands for.;)]

BTW, this volts/ohms/watts/amps stuff is not as mysterious as I first thought. If this Speech & Drama major can understand it, anyone can. [I used to think that 'IT' stood for 'improvisational theater'.] Take a look at this brief article and see if it helps demystify.

LR 510 cartos and/or LR Cisco.

Use your eGo XL batt with them; you could never need higher than 3.3v again...
