This may end up being a bit of a rant, and for that I apologize. Everyone here has been so helpful, and I feel my lack of success is personal and does not reflect on this community or the vaping industry in any way. I sincerely hope you understand this and keep it in mind as you read what follows.

vaping instead of smoking is really tough for me. I've been at this since the start of April and I've made some real strides toward success (click my name and view old threads if you want the background), but I've plateaued. I feel like I'm stuck and not making progress. My current vaping setup is good, but just doesn't compare to the satisfying enjoyment I get from smoking. Vaping feels like a chore or a diet -- like eating salads instead of steak and potatoes. Sure, it's a good salad, but it doesn't compare to what I'm used to.

I'm now on a Bloog with DK-Tab for the all day vape, and I love this setup as far as vaping goes. It is good, but just not quite satisfying. What is really frustrating is I can't exactly quantify the problem any more, so I can't really come up with any ideas of what to try next. The analogue cigarettes are just so satisfying (I smoke regular Camel Filters). I really like the earthy taste, the smoke is smooth and inhales easy without causing coughing, it gives me a nice buzz, and it is easy and convenient. Vaping is harsher and makes me cough if I don't consciously think about my drag and inhale technique, I don't really get everyone's love of throat hit (I don't like my throat tingling, and analogues don't cause that), I don't get that satisfied feeling I get from analogues which I think may be from things other than the nicotine, and the taste is good but just not good enough. I've only found one flavor I can vape for any length of time, DK-Tab, and even it can't quite hold my attention. And frankly, sampling liquids has started feeling like a hopeless chore. I'm disappointed time and time again. So many taste sweet, and few if any taste like what they are supposed to taste like (to me). Most taste artificial or strange to me, much like the void between cherry cough syrup and a real cherry.

Now the dilemma... Where do I go from here? I'm thinking about trying some more VG liquids. They seem to be a bit easier on the TH which will help with the coughing. Also, they seem to produce a thicker vapor which may be more physically satisfying. The problem is, VG is sweeter and seems to convey less taste, which will compound my taste frustrations. Still, it is worth a shot. Honestly, I'm thinking about giving up though because of the cost. So far, I have sunk $335 into this and any continuation of vaping will just dig a deeper money pit. However, if I can make the switch to 100% vaping, I'll break even and then start saving money .... eventually. But if I can't switch, then I've wasted all this cash with nothing to show for it, which has me wondering if I should cut my losses soon and give up, or gamble on the hope this vaping experiment will work out.

HI Mike. sorry to hear your having a tough time. hang in there. I know i was lucky enough to find my juice right off the bat. I would suggest upping the nic level and asking around for more suggestions on non sweet, vg based, tobaccos. I use Rob at good prophets because his vg line is thinner like pg and he is always good about helping people find what will work for them. He's all about helping folks get off analogs, as i'm sure many vendors are. you might want to shoot him and a few vendors some emails before totally giving up. Do you like cigar tastes? how about havanna gold from alien visions? they have vg juice as well, and the owners are supper nice. maybe someone will have something else to suggests that just "clicks". And i'd say, don't beat up on yourself for not completely making the total switch. any less analogs is good!

It sounds to me like you are one of us that is as addicted to the additives in cigarettes as to the nicotine itself. Tobacco cigs contain "free base nicotine"; it hits your system faster and is more effective in providing a quick high. E-cigs just can't do this. One thing you can try is to supplement with snus for times when your e-cig just isn't cutting it. Or you might try some super-high mg juice for the hot button moment (first of the day, after meals, with beer).

Good luck!

ps: you didn't say what mg juice you are using, I hope it's at LEAST 24mg......
pps: There are lots of good tobacco flavors besides DK tab, you don't have to go all crazy with the cherry etc....

Yah don't give up. I've found that similar issue myself before and have played with nic levels and different levels of flavors. I personally found I like a really strong tobacco flavor that is satisfying me greatly it is 100% vg and also has tons of TH which I like. But if you can play around with either different vendors or some DIY hopefully you can find your sweetspot.

Thanks, I'll drop Rob a line then. I really want to get off these analogs but I'm just not sure how at this point. And yes, I love cigars. I love most complex flavors in life -- wine, cigars, scotch, meats, cheeses, etc. I'll check out Alien Visions too. Maybe I can up the nic level if I switch to vg. I'm at 16mg now, but 24 is just too much TH with PG.

And thanks for the encouragement. I'm not going to give up yet, but I hate that I'm thinking about it.

Yeah, I haven't done much reading about all the additives in cigarettes, but I know they are there. I really suspect this may be a big part of my issue. I vape at 16mg, because 24mg was making me dizzy. Even then though, while dizzy from too much nic, a cigarette would give me that "ahhh feeling" and a slight buzz. There has got to be more then the nic keeping me hooked. I might try upping the nic back to 24mg again to see if it helps, but it was too much for me when I started. And I hope I can find another tobacco flavor I like. I keep thinking I'll find the "one" that just does it for me, but no luck yet.

Thanks. I'm trying to hang in there. So what is it you vape that works for you? I take it you DIY? Any suggestions on going that route?

Have you thought about DIY? Since you're hunting for a "perfect" combo of TH and vapor and flavor, maybe you can come by it mixing yourself. I know it's another initial investment (I'm in +/- $100) but, if you're thinking in the long run, it's a heck of a lot cheaper to get flavors to mix, rather than tearing through ready-mades (for my own part, for example, I won't need to purchase anything but flavorings and pipettes 'til around November or so...)

Also, I started @ 18 and was chain-vaping and unsatisfied and all that, too, so definitely try a higher nic. Right now, 21-24 is about right for me, 30-36 in a pinch.

Don't give up!!

Mike ..i know exactly what you mean.It just simply isn't the same, ane never will be .I still find myself thinking of analogs ,their so well designed to deliver the buzz and do their job.I just have to resign myself ,and keep telling myself the extra 10 years on the end of my life will make it worth it.

I was actually tired of the effects the smoking cigs was having on me,coughing ,tiredness ,out of breath ,being out of shape. If you don't have any symptoms really bothering you alot ,then im sure along with the addatives .It would make it harder to quit. But again, you have to really want to do it.

My biggest problem is ,the only really satisfying smoke for me is Boba's ,and i still have to wait for the restock....good luck to ya ..

I never even smoked an analog and I get frustrated with vapor production on anything less than 100% VG! I also have horrible coughing, chest pain, etc. when I use any PG, and my throat gets super raw. Vaping VG is super satisfying to me. I couldn't see how people got addicted to actually smoking until I started blowing out big clouds... I've never felt addicted to nicotine, but boy is it ever lovely to blow out a lot of vapor, lol. If I ever want to stop I'll just have to take up blowing bubbles again. ;) I highly recommend the VG!

Vaperite has some lovely tobaccos, and I believe you can get some of them 100% VG or at least 50/50. There might even be a tobacco sampler for a good price. I sure hope you can find something that works for you! A lot of people have eventually found vaping is more enjoyable than smoking, and I hope some day that can be your experience, too. :)
