Too many noobs that used to inhale god knows what into their lungs for years suddenly wimp out when it comes to vaping. They get 11mg juice, vape til they're blue in the face, and then go outside for a cigarette.

My advice is that anyone who smoked a pack a day for any length of time needs to start with a minimum of 24mg nic concentration. From there you can assess what your nic needs truly are.

I agree and good advice:thumb:

I think there is a bit of adjustment for everyone and some maybe never give up the analogs. I know for me weeks with the little ones that look like cigs I still kept sneaking a smoke here and there. I was trying to quit but... just never felt totally satisfied.

Then my Screwdriver Classic showed up. I have not picked up an analog since that day and I was smoking at least a pack a day for about 25 years. I'm still amazed that I'm not even looking to sneak a smoke... At all!

I think once you figure out what device & juice really works for you it'll just happen. There are so many choices. Thankfully there is a wealth of info and advice here, that's how I found my new favorites! I think everyone has to find their favs and that is a challenge.

Good luck!!

I agree with what everyone else has been saying. Ween yourself off at own pace and don't beat yourself up about it if you have one here and there. When you're ready to give them up entirely you will.

Cigarettes have many chemicals in them and they've engineered them to be highly addictive, it's not just the nicotine that has us hooked. I think having a few when you first start vaping helps keep the cravings down. You will soon find yourself going for longer and longer periods of time without one, until one day you'll feel you can do without them altogether.

And you know what, if you only get down to say 5 or less a day, you'll still be better off than you would be if you were smoking them all day long. One day soon you won't be wanting to smoke the nasties anymore. Best of luck to you.

Geronimo;

Keep in mind that nicotine is not the only addictive chemical in cigarette smoke. You can up your nic to ultra high levels, and still have withdrawal symptoms. Sometimes you just have to deal with it. If the withdrawal becomes more than you can handle, you might have to smoke an analog occasionally until you can taper off.

I have always used 18mg. In the beginning, I kept a small amount of 36mg on the side. If things got bad, I spiked on the 36, and then went back to the 18. After a couple of months, I found that I didn't need the 36 anymore.

Hang in there, it gets better.

Oh? What else is addictive in cigarette smoke?

I'm tremendously grateful for all the support that this place has to offer. Thank you all for sharing your experience, strength, and hope with me. I think if I must smoke an analog every now and then I should at least be rolling my own.

I'm a newbie. I use to wear nicotine patches, chew nicotine gum, and still smoked during the day. OY!

I just got my JOYE 510 today and it produces nice vapor. Good luck Geronimo.

Geronimo.

You'll really enjoy that 510 with the right ejuice. I'm new at this too and when buying my 510 I bought 16 mg menthol. Loved the taste but I felt as if I were going through withdrawals. So, I bought 24 mg and 36 mg and have decided to stay with mostly 36 mg until ready to begin to taper down.

I still smoke the occasional analog, but only when one is available to bum. I have to say that since buying the 510 and hitting on it as much as I do, cigarettes are tasting worse and worse. I had a two-pack a day full-flavored menthol habit and now I think I've smoked no more than five this week.

So, good luck and enjoy. Heed the advice of the ecig sages who've been vaping much longer than we have. Folks here really are friendly and supportive :)

You can say that again.

As I mentioned earlier, I'll probably start rolling my own until the local smokeshop starts carrying 36 mg juice. I'm under the impression that the tobacco I'd be rolling won't have all of the addictive additives that my Winstons had. By rolling my own, I'll probably still be jonsing for the other addictive additives, but I think it'll make it easier for me to not go out and buy a pack of commercial analogs. Instead of getting down on myself, I need to keep reminding myself that one of the major reasons I decided to seek alternative smoking methods was because I grew tired of shelling out $6.50 a pack to Big Tobacco. If I can stop paying so much for cigs I've pretty much reached my goal.
