Yes, it can, but that doesn't seem to be the problem here. If the cartomizer sizzles, it makes contact.

The battery connection well is a tad too deep and when the 510 cartos are screwed in, it's covering up the air holes in the carto, so it would still sizzle, but because of the blocked air holes, the draw is very hard.

Is there a difference between 901 and 901 DSE? I was told on the Reo forum that 510, 306, and 901 were all compatible. I know 510 and 306 are, but have never had occasion to use any 901 stuff.

No, they are not!

510 and 306 are compatible.

[901 is sometimes compatible with kr808, sometimes not. If you have a 901 battery, you may need a 901>kr808 adapter with some cartomizers... But this is off topic here.]

OP has the correct battery (510 Riva) and 510 LR Boge cartos.

This is what I have and I ordered Boge 2.0 cartos with it XL Riva SE Carto Kit | Sweet-Vapes E-Liquid

OK, this is what I'm thinking now. Contact the vendor and tell him the problem and ask for a replacement or your money back. After all, these are mass produced overseas and maybe there's a manufacturing glitch.

You should not be having these problems. If the Riva is a 510 and the cartos are a 510, they should fit fine and not cover the air holes.

I really think we're unnecessarily confusing the OP... :)

Yes, I guess it's theoretically possible, but I've been using my Rivas with Boge cartos for a long time and it has never happened to me.

Well, thanks for all the advice - I tried cleaning connections, adding more juice - all to no avail. I've got 2 left - just filled one up and will let it sit overnight and see what it's like in the AM.....maybe I'm not letting them sit/wick long enough.

Did you make sure you put at least 25 drops (1 ml) in?

They don't need to sit overnight--an hour is enough.

BTW, you said got some cartos with the kit--what brand are they? Are they all malfunctioning?

Yep, I counted - put about 12 in, let it sink in, then added 13 more. The cartos that came with it say Boge 2.0 on them. I got 5 with the kit and also bought an extra box of 5. The first 2 or 3 (I don't know if they were the ones that came with it or the extras) worked GREAT - I was thrilled - so much better than my KR808's ....... the rest of them are "sizzlers"
By the way, I've NEVER let them sit very long after filling (didn't know about that) maybe 20 min at the most. I'm hoping that's my problem :)

Boges are good cartos and I love them on my eGos (and Rivas); but they are notoriously difficult to fill for the first time.

That said, it's not impossible that there might be other problem. If it continues, by all means contact your vendor and ask for help. Poor QC is a very well known issue here... you may have gotten a bunch of duds... Happens all the time. :)

Good luck.
