Frustrated With Filling Carto's

I've had a KR808D-1 (V4L's VaporKing) for a little less than a week now and I use the blank cartos also from their site. I didn't know there was any specific technique in filling the cartos because I used to just pop the rubber end off, tilt, and fill about 20 drops or so. Then I kept hearing about the Condom Filling Method and Taryn Spin, etc. I figured I was probably doing something wrong or, in the least, there was a more effective way so I watched a couple videos on these new methods.

So this morning I popped off the cap to my last blank carto, filled up the condom about 20 drops, and slid the carto back onto it, allowing it to soak up. Once the juice began to emerge from the battery end's hole, I stopped, capped off and wiped down the carto. A couple minutes later I tried vaping it and -- LIQUID IN MY MOUTH, LIQUID ON THE BATTERY. Really? The videos made it seem infallible and easy.

My questions are:

(1) Why (if) the condom filling method is superior to just popping off the cap and filling, eliminating the "middle man" - the condom?

(2) I have a manual KR808D-1 battery and I wiped off the juice immediately with a tissue. Is my battery going to be okay? I hear the manual batteries are better prepared to handle this issue.

(3) So, when you boil it all down, what IS the best way to fill a blank carto?

On a side note, I don't seem to be getting as much vapor as I was a few days ago, even before this morning when this all happened. Any help would be appreciated. I just want to have a hassle-free and clean (no juices and tissues everywhere) way of vaping because it seems like I spend more time trying to setup my system than actually enjoying it.

After you fill using the condom method, you should blow out the excess liquid. Some people like the condom method better as it soaks the filler material with the juice easier. I tried it, but its a bit messy for me. I just drip onto the filler until its nice and mushy, and a few into the atty when I first use it, and blow out the excess.

Dripping liquid into an auto battery can harm the battery because theres a hole in the battery to trigger the battery when you are inhaling it. Manual batteries dont have this hole, so it's less prone to get liquid in it and harm the battery.

It's all a little tricky, but you can just experiment with different ways until you find the method you like best, and stick with it. There's really no "best" way to fill a carto, as far as I have read. It takes a little trial and error, but eventually you'll get used to it and vape away. :vapor: :vapor:

This.

I blow mine out from the threaded end so I don't lose much juice. I found the boge cartos less receptive to the condom method because there's more wadding in there. Some people use a syringe and I found I needed to with boge ones because they suck my vg up so slowly.

Once you've filled a carto once, if you're just refilling you need less juice in there. I tend to just drip until the top looks like a slushie and give it a few to absorb it then blow out the threaded end and good to go.

Keep at it, you'll find what works for you!

Hi ZerOity -- I feel your frustration, been there, done that :) When I used that style, I had the same issues with filling and cleaning... my sofa table looked like the bathroom wastebasket....

That all ended when I moved away from that style and I have been in vaping bliss ever since. Please feel free to have a look at my Reo album, or click on my link below... I hope this is the solution for you that it was for me... hang in there and keep vaping!

I do all my carto cleaning and refilling the old-fashioned way: I have my hubby do it! LOL

So though I rarely have to do it myself, here is how I refill V4L cartos.

I pop the rubber mouthpiece off. Then I fill the condom 1/2 to 2/3 full of juice, and slowly ... slowly ... push the cart into the condom. I have the mouthpiece off so I can see what is going on. When it stops absorbing juice, I stop the downward pressure, pull out the cart, put the mouthpiece back in, wipe it down and then blow through it (from the mouthpiece end) and wipe off any excess. Done.

The reason I mostly have hubby do it is because they usually need cleaned first, and he uses a loud air compressor and stuff in the process.

Hey Delilah, I think I might eventually make the move to a mod. How does the Reo Grand work? Does it need a separate atomizer piece? For some reason I'm hesitant to have to buy atomizers as I've only ever used cartomizers. I see on the pictures that it has threads so wouldn't you have to still fill a cartomizer to put it on there or does it somehow vape the juice directly from the bottle?

Besides the Reo's ( which I own ) you might also , want to try some clear carto's . Both the ce-2's and ce-3's , as well as the G-4-work very well , they use wicks , instead of stuffing , the g-4 doesn't even use , wicks , just a little storage tank , for the juice . I have had good luck , with all of them . I forget , where I got the G-4's .I think it was , AvidVapor's site . good luck .

Wait a minute. Are you using the condom method by filling it on the mouth piece end? That would explain the excess juice issue. You're supposed to dunk the "battery" end into the cap, not the mouth piece. You dunk until you can see the top of the filler getting moist, then you pull out. Ok, I just made myself laugh, condom, dunk, and pull out shouldn't all be used in the same statement:?: Anyway, after that, you blow through the mouth piece to get the extra juice out of the battery hole, wipe it down, and then blow through the battery end. Recap, screw on the battery, and you're ready to go.

ZerOxity: I love the condum fill method. Be sure to use the larger sized condums as some are just a little wider than others. The carto fits easily in to them---and be sure to put the battery end in the condum and look down at the filler end, you will see the juice being absorbed. Then pull out slowly and blow a couple of times into the battery end to clear the center hole. No mess, simple and easy. Wipe battery end (usually the juice suctions off when you pull it out) and ready to vape. I have never burned a battery using this method.

Whoops--above and I were posting at the same time.

I have an 808 from an old kit (using 510 now and moving onto eGo, would be 4th kit) and prefilled cartos I refill. I just pop off the rubber mouthpiece and fill, but I stop way short of 20 drops. IMO, there is no avoiding juice in the mouth since refilling is a manual process and we all make mistakes. That nicotine is a tongue burner though. Be thankful you're not using a 3-piece. It's even more trouble and error prone. There are days I miss the old lighter.

Yes, I was using the mouthpiece end and pushed down until I saw the first drop of liquid come up through the battery end. This is how the video I saw on YouTube last night showed how to do it. I suppose I'll try the battery end into the liquid/condom. I just thought it made sense to not get the battery end wet if at all possible. It just made more sense to me to do it that way but I'll try what you're saying and add to the post later. My main concern was to not screw up my (manual) battery. I really, really want this to work. I like the V4L Vapor King w/PCC setup so far but I was getting tired of the mess. Thanks for all your replies, guys. I love this forum.

You can use an atomizer or cartomizer. It has a built in juice bottle, so when you need to add more juice, you just sqeeze the bottle a little (we call it "squonking) and you're good. The Grand has a 6ml bottle and the Mini a 3ml. Easy to fill, easy to use, no leaks and no worries :)

If your using a kr808 batt then just buy prefilled carts and throw away if you don't want to deal with juice and tissue. Otherwise refill with the method that works best for you. You did say you were refilling and it was working but then you tried the condom method... why? If its not broke stop trying to fix it.

Oh and I use the condom method from the mouth end and have not had any problems but you do have to make sure you do not flood the carts. I do not wait to see any fluid come out. I just add 15-20 drops when its empty and then I vape :) Only leaked one time on me and thats cause I got carts mixed up and tried filling a full cart... d'oh!!!

Does REO fill dual coil carto?
