Frustrated with my Kayfun Lite and sucking up lots of juice. Is that bad for you?

I just got my kayfun Lite clone in from fasttech and I'm having a hell of a time trying to get it not to leak through the air hole. I have done exactly what was shown in the YouTube videos, turning it upside down before tightening it, stuffing the chimney exactly as shown in the video and I still can't get it to stop gurgling and leaking fluid, I have probably wasted 4 ml of fluid in the last couple of hours trying to get it to work. Other than burning wicks, because I was trying to stuff too much cotton through the coil, my AGA T2 was relatively painless to assemble but it doesn't put out the flavor like my Protank 2, so I was hoping the kayfun would fare better.<br>

Anyways, I have sucked up and spit out a lot of fluid, is this harmful for you? I'm using 12mg nicotine.

I fill from both top and bottom- never floods from bottom; but from the top it will once in a while.
Noticed if I have some juice cling to the cap it'll flood if the cap is dry and I don't fill it all the way I'm fine top filling.
I think it floods when you too fill due to displacement. The cap recesses into the tank so if you put too much in the juice will move accommodate the new space and find its way down the chimney.
A few strong draws and blowing into the airhole usually solves the problem pretty quick

I've never been able to top fill correctly. I've always had to use the fill port on the bottom of my Kayfun Lite's. I have the Tobecco version. Which do you have OP? I also have the Hcigar Kayfun 3.1, and I'll have to learn how to top fill that soon because I've been having issues with the fill port on the side not closing up correctly, no matter how much hot water I try to flush out gunk with. I'm likely going to stick with the Kayfun Lite's for further purchases. The screw on the bottom port is much easier to deal with then the side fill ports.

The first time I used my Kayfun I filled it from the top because I thought using the screw was pointless and I literally had no issues whatsoever and actually now that I fill from the bottom I am having wicking issues. I think I am going to strictly top fill from now on, and by the way, I didn't do that flip upside down trick either. Just filled it and screwed it on and done. 50/50 blend, no high VG.

Filling from the bottom lets you put more juice in it. If the recess on the top allowed for another .5-1 mil of juice and the kayfun works on pressure. So long as wicks are in there right -ie not blocking the juice channels- once it's filled and sealed up good and tight I cover the airhole and take a few primer puffs; the. Take my fingers off the airhole and take a few more primers before I fire. Sometimes that'll cause it to flood a tiny bit; but, easy solve. I wick with a very small amount of cotton- almost looks like it wouldn't be enough cotton and cut the wicks where they just touch the base of the deck.

Is the o-ring on top of the chimney firmly seated in the top cap when you put the tank together OP? That little o-ring, when slightly off from the correct position, can cause a lot of leaking issues from areas you wouldn't expect. Also, if there's anything wrong with that o-ring, like part of it could be pinched in or stretched out, it won't create the seal that you need for the right kind of vaccum pressure you need in the Kayfun.

One Kayfun Lite clone I have, the top of that chimney doesn't screw into the little tube that screws in the atomizer completely. It was a used one that I traded for. I put an o-ring there and that seems to be working now....

Yes its somewhat normal. The air tube is direct to the coil, so if you're flooded in the coil area, that juice will drain up through the mouth piece.

Since I started using the screw fill, I haven't had a leaking problem at all, and I still get juice at the base of the drip tip. Condensation.
Perhaps you're not using enough wick?

Mine did that whenever I filled from the bottom then I noticed the oring on the cap where the chimney inserts into the cap was pretty beat up; replaced that o-ring and problem solved.
Wherever there is not an airtight seal on the kfuns a problem will exist. They work on hydronic and vacuum pressure so wherever they seal you need some sort of o-ring to make sure that pressure will be there

A bit of juice will not harm you. If we can inhale it, we can ingest it :)

It's not normal for juice to come through the drip tip while filling. I'm more convinced you've got a leaking O-ring now.

I've always top filled from the time I got it, which was about 3 months ago. Anytime you top fill, you run a chance of flooding. When mine floods, I turn it drip tip down and blow through the air hole. Usually fixes the issue. If not, I just lay my device on its side, Kayfun airhole facing up, until it stops doing it. Which is usually after 4 or 5 pulls.

I'm with Ryedan on this. Juice shouldn't come out from the drip tip while filling, unless it's juice from condensation or what was already in the drip tip prior to filling.

1) check all o rings
2) check all threads
3) try a wee bit more cotton.
4) you might be drawing too hard, creating more vacuum than what the cotton can hold. Try softer draws.
5) try a different wicking material like silica or ekowool. With cotton, I occasionally get minor weeping from the airhole if the kayfun is not vaped for a long time. With ekowool as wick, no such problem.

If you follow this build and it still leaks, you have a vacuum loss issue.

First thing you ever do with a Kayfun is FULLY Disassemble, Clean Everything and inspect EVERYTHING for proper fit. Run a paper clip through the air channel and inspect the Vertical Screw channel for any debris.

Good luck

When you clean everything use white vinegar and water; let it soak for a few hours then rinse it with warm water and scrub it with qtips- especially the threads- re-rinse and let air dry

Thanks for all the advice guys, I'll check the orings for sure and the juice channels(although I'm still not 100% sure what I'm looking for. I don't think it's the amount of wick I'm using since I've tried varying lengths without success. I'll also try Sourmash's laying on the side method.

I work 12-16 hours a day, 6 days a week this time of year, so it's a little frustrating spending so much time trying to diagnose the problem I am having with this Kayfun when there are so many other things to be done. I just ordered 3 more PT2s from 101vape, just in case I don't get it going.
