Even if its there, check the O ring for a slight tear, split or thinning as it could have been nipped and torn in the factory when assembling and a slight tear would allow juice to pressure past the O ring causing the very thing you have as an issue.

Also machining oil could be behind the O ring in the recess allowing a poor seal so maybe dig about in there with a q tip to ensure its a nice clean seat for the ring itself.

I take it you haven't had leaking from the air hole on the baseplate? If you haven't then it really is down to that little O ring up top as somehow its acting as a one way valve allowing the vacuum to force perhaps a little at a time, I think you have the ring in place as without it you would have bottom and top leaking issues.

It only leaves from the air hole occasionally. So occasionally in fact, that all I need to do is take a pull once or twice and it's clear again
