Okay... I've tried the dry burn method, and have been for the past two hours. I just gave up on my atty not producing the vapor, after doing this whole process for way too long. I can't even get vapor out of my e-cig and if I do it tastes horrible, if not worse. I'm so frustrated, analogs are so much easier and less expensive at this rate... :-x

Honestly, I really don't know what I'm doing wrong. :( This is so much work, and I'm not getting my nicotine...

Sorry hehe info definitely helps. I have a Joye 510 with a stock battery. I was experiencing a disgusting burning taste, so I was directed to Highping's cleaning method, after I had tried a few other methods (and failed). I can't even get any vapor out now, and if it does come out, it tastes worse now. :( I'm just ready to give up.

OK
My personal view for newbs is to always buy cartomizers - always. Use them to puff and play with the atty/cart combo and see if you like it - or not.

You can buy a box of 5 BOGE carto's from LiteCigUSA for $8 and only $2 shipping. That will resolve your problem until you decide if you like the atty/cart thingy.

Edit: A passthrough is simply a USB wire that replaces your battery. I agree that all mini users should have one, but that really isn't your biggest issue at the moment. You are trying to get the atty/cart thing to work....many do not like the combo...many do.

I know the feeling of frustration very well, Raynen and I have no knowledge that will help fix your problem, but hopefully I can help keep you from giving up, anyway.

I have a DSE801, and the hassles screwed with me too.
The only things I found that helped: multiple attys. I've purchased 11, threw out one that simply did not work, have 3 that lasted a week but only through repeated washings and currently have 1 on its last legs and two running with 4 spares.

When it worked WELL I was ok with it, but felt it was a hassle.
Most people do seem to figure out how to run them reliably with carts, but I gave up and ordered a liquid-fed unit instead.

The one and only suggestion I have is to get spare attys so you always have one when you need it.
(I know that doesn't help right now.)

Ok, if it's burning your throat (keep in mind that most WANT that and will pay MORE for it, lol) you may want to try straight VG juice.

PG = throat hit.
VG = vapor, less taste, but lots of vapor.

Also, cartomizers do give a less TH type of hit. Why many vapers prefer the atty/cart combo. Keep in mind that you only get maybe 5 good puffs from carts and have to top off with liquid... otherwise you get a harsh burnt taste rapidly....Carto's are closer to 1/2 a pack or more before having to refill...

Simply put, order some carto's and try them. Much easier, no burnt taste, less TH.... i believe that will resolve your entire issue...

I would get 2 boxes so you can rotate them...

My guess is that you are getting the harsh hit because the cart is low on juice... as it does get very harsh when that happens...

before you assume the atty is dead, refer to my post to you in another thread and try debridging the atty.

I'm gonna wait till I get my spare atty to try this because I'm starting to get flavor, I think my "Joozy Fruit" flavor is just a strange flavor, its very strong on the throat, but light on taste. i tried my "Hypnotic" and I can taste it, so I must be doing something right??

Yep I agree. I just switched over from 510 atty's to Boge carto's and I'm in friggin heaven. lol No more BS every damn minute and MUCH MUCH less mess. I'm thinking about trying the e2's next. The wife has the XL's on her Ego and the TH off that thing kicks my carto's ....

Lol, hold on I need some deciphering. What's a Boge? Is that just a brand of carto's? Am I able to use my vapor juice (I have a few nearly-full bottles)? What's an e2?

Sounds like you're getting it!

Re Boge - I think there are a couple of makers of 510 cartos (cartomizers) and Boge is one and I think E2 is one.

To get a good drag without too much effort.. if you have an automatic battery and the atty is cool, you can try a short puff first to warm it a bit then your real puff. With shift the button press and release about 1/2-1 second earlier in time than your puff like: press..start puff...release..end puff.

The ejuice vapor will feel real weird to your throat at first. Drink plenty of water. In general PG juices have more throat hit (TH ie. feel more like smoking) and VG has more visible vapor (the fake "smoke"). But you'll find even with the same PG or VG or PG/VG ratio, some flavors will have more flavor than others, some will have more TH than others. I find some ejuices leave me wanting or feeling like I just ate and now want a smoke (that's bad), and some satisfy me. To start with, find something that will at least satisfy your craving (I was a non-menthol smoker and for me, plain old PG Marlboro-like worked though I didn't like the lack of vapor or the flavor). Then experiment with juices. Find one or more you like that satisfy you.

If your vapor/flavor starts to thin or tastes a bit funny, see if the cart need topping off (to dampness, not to a puddle). If if still tastes wrong, check if the atty needs to be blown out (into a tissue) and if the atty's OK then for me it usually means my battery is getting weak and about to run out of charge. Then yes it does run out of charge and I swap batteries. I use a PCC (charging case) when at work or out. I have a smaller PV but I think those steps should apply to most atty + cart combos.
