Freedom Smoke USA included a free sample of Flaky Apple in one of my orders...oh, about two months ago. As a new vaper, I was ordering a lot of juice from a lot of vendors....trying to identify what I liked. Fruity vapes have never passed muster for me. My explorations have led me to a huge juice collection, but a small handful that I love. To give you some idea of where my tastes lie, my favorite juices (in no particular order):
Just about any extracted tobacco flavor from Vaperite (plus Rou's and VR4)
BWB's Hazelnut Tobacco, Malty Toffee, and Malty (as a mixer for lots of other stuff)
Gourmet Vapor's Maiden Coffee and Perique Blackberry
AVE Irish Cream
So, while I like a smidge of sweetness in my tobacco flavors, fruit and dessert vapes have been a big "fail" for me to date. They either taste like perfume, soap, or the candy-version of the fruit.
Last night I wanted something different. I didn't know what I wanted, but was not in the mood for more tobacco. So, I routed through my now extensive juice collection, and came across this one. It was with very low expectations that I loaded up a carto with Flaky Apple last night (especially since in the hour beforehand, I'd already tried some other samples of fruit/dessert/waffles/etc.., from vendors I really love, and had gotten nothing but "yuck").
I vape a Bloog MF with Bloog cartos, and this sample is 24mg 50pg/50vg.
Imagine my surprise in finding this juice totally delicious!! No perfume, no soap, no candy.
It simply tastes like a buttery, baked, Granny Smith apple. I kept on vaping, expecting some horrible aftertaste to sneak up on me over time. Nope....none of that. Just deliciousness! Not super sweet, not super tart....just pleasant, warm, buttery apple. To me, it is reminiscent of Vaperite's Strawberry Shortcake....where you just get that nice clean fruit flavor....understated but yummy.
I visted FSUSA's website (to place an order), and the description for Flaky Apple says it has a nutty undertone. I am not getting that, and was surprised to see it described that way. Then again, my tastebuds are bizarro, so your mileage may vary.
This juice produces great vapor too. I vape a lot of 50/50's, and this out-performs most of those. It is closer to 100% VG in the vapor-production department. Also carries a very nice throat hit, noticeable but not harsh. Then again, at 24mg, TH comes with the territory most of the time. It's a clear juice, and loads very nicely into the carto. It also vapes very smoothly and evenly from beginning to end...reminiscent of the BWB juices I love so much.
There are many juices sitting in my house, some of which I even like, that won't get re-ordered. This is not one of them....shopping cart at FSUSA is already loaded up.
Anyway.... +1 for pleasant surprises!
