Sow now that melting carts and burning taste aren't quite as prominent of an issue as they have been in the past, my two of my three atomizers now taste like utter crap.

That being said, I wonder how to get rid of this unpleasant taste? I would describe it as sort of actually tasting the way an ashtray smells, it's not very palatable.

Anyway, I gave the good atty to my BF and I'm using one of the funky ones right now. I can't taste my liquid at all, it just tastes like crap.

Are they trashed or is there something I can do for them to make them useful once again?

Things I have done that haven't worked:
Blown out atty followed by dripping a couple of drops onto the atty followed by resuming use of the atty.

Right, so that was ONE thing, but sadly that was unproductive.

Tonight I took one of the funky attys and rinsed it under hot water for a short period of time. I've left it to dry somewhere in the house and am hoping that will yield promising results.

I guess I'm wondering if there is some remedy for this that I am missing, or was it bad to rinse it under the hot water? This was what I did with malfunctioning 901 attys and it would help that, so I just figured. . . yeah.

any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

okay, seriously, I couldn't find anything other than "burning taste" on the threads. I've been through the burning taste, I know all about it. The "burning taste" was, however, not constant. The two atty's I have now that taste like crap are CONSISTENTLY producing an awful taste NO MATTER WHAT. This is not a burning taste (Well, one kind of tastes like a hair might have gotten in there somehow) and the other tastes like ashes.
I have replaced cartridges, topped off, dripped, rinsed the thing under hot water, let it dry, nothing has helped so far. I use tea bags as my cart fillers, so no stray fibers are getting caught in my attys.
If anyone has any advice on how to remove a funky taste from an otherwise perfectly functioning atomizer, I would LOVE to hear it.
I'm sorry, I really looked and can't find anything related to this specific topic, if I have overlooked something, feel free to rip me a new one, I guess.
thanks if anyone responds.

Chorizo,

I know what you are talking about. I finally experienced the problem you are describing. It happened on one of my newest atomizers. I topped off the cart and it soon dissappeared as mysteriously as it came. I don't know what caused it I have been vaping liquid from that bottle most of the day when it happened. It wasn't the burnt smell I sometimes get when I run the cart too low on juice. So, I don't know anything other than, it does happen.

Also I have noticed that these 2 newest atomizers seem to run hotter than my older atomizers. If I vape too fast between drags it doesn't wick good enough to keep the wick wet and I get the burnt smell. The burnt smell is comming from the nylon wick strands connecting the bridge to the atomizer. If these nylon strands burn through then your atomizer will stop wicking. So consider the burnt smell a warning and stop and top off.

thanks ad2, I appresciate the response.

I think for the most part I've remedied the whole burning issue, I think it was one bad atty, and you are definitely right about topping the carts off.

Yeah, one of the two funky tasting atty's has now returned to normal and tastes fine, the other one has a completely different gross taste that I don't know if I am willing to work through and vape that nasty taste. I ordered two new ones, so hopefully I have better luck with them.
