Funny story I thought I'd share...

I did have 2 extra batteries on me. But not more than one atty. I've been using the same 2 attys since I started. They're both still working like new. So I never carry spares.

And yes I agree the toilet was not sterile. But that really doesn't bother me.

Hell, 90% of U.S. currency has been proven to contain feces, staph, and even traces of ....... for crying out loud. How often does anyone even think to wash up, let alone have the opportunity every time they make a cash transaction. I've chosen not to live my life in fear of things like this. Of course if I worked in food service that would be another story and I would have to be conscious of those types of things.

I have a wonderful immune system and I believe this is largely due to the fact that I don't worry about coming in contact with germs throughout the day.

I have a handful of friends that are huge germaphobes and they seem to get sick on a very regular basis. I can't even recall the last time I got sick, it's been years.

Sorry for the rant.

Juan? I can assure you that, even if I HADN'T been a Paramedic since J.C. was a cowboy, I'd be hard pressed to find ANYONE that's recommended that a patient consider this as a good therapy option....:nah:

As for your sense of humor JimmyJams, I have a pretty sick one too and you had me right up till you said you'd let others 'share'. There are a few people I'd have done the same thing to, and I don't drink, but...... ;)

I dropped my cell phone into the toilet at work, causing to me to freak pretty much. Um... the bowl was in a similar condition as jimmyjam described.
I dashed over to the washbasin and just flooded the thing under running water for several minutes. (Hey, I still had to take this thing home with me.) Knowing full well that a wet cell phone is most likely trash, I did find stories of people reviving them with drying techniques. So for a week I alternated between blasting it with a hair dryer and letting it sit in the stream of an air conditioner. After this period, I turned the thing on and discovered that the LCD screen was still pretty much toast, but it did start up and even dialed out. Some of the numbers on the keypad didn't work, however.
Off to the Verizon store to pick up another phone. No problem other than the $200 price tag. I casually asked the clerk if they could retrieve my phone book and other data of the old phone and transfer it to the new one. "Yep, I think so," he says and goes off to the back room with both phones. He returns a few minutes later and says that I'm all set. As he's bagging up all the stuff he asks how I got the phone so wet - "Heavy rain?" "Nope" says me, "fished it out of the toilet at work"
That look on his face was priceless - something between a grin and a grimace. Betcha he doesn't ask any more customers the hows and why-fors.;)
