Been using silica wick to rebuild my protank, vivi, and drippers. I get a weird taste for like 3 tanks before the taste goes away and I can actually taste my juice.

I hit the wire with a torch before building. Tried torching the wick as some one else suggested but still get this taste. Any tips for preparing the wick?

I'm probably going to start rebuilding my coils to save money. I've seen YT videos on using candle wicking material instead of silica, and am considering giving that shot first. Understood that the candle wicking needs to be 100% cotton, un-waxed, should be boiled and air-dried first. My target is to end up with a 2.0 ohm coil, or thereabouts. I don't have one of those APVs that will measure the resistance of the coil or a resistance tester, but it seems to me that a digital mulitmeter would work just as well. I have one very similar this. Thoughts anyone?
