Hey guys.

I've tried to quit smoking 3 times. I've lasted a week and they all resulted in misery and failure :(. I can't stand people telling me I smell like an ash tray and spending a good amount of money on cigs. So I've invested in two e-cigs, one more myself and one for my fiance. I've been lurking on the board for the last week seeing all the do-it-yourselfers (I like the cold heat mod) and the stories of where peopled have vaped.

I ordered two M401's from True Smoker dot com, two atomizers, 10 extra carts, and some flavors to try. I've been smoking reds, smooths, and black cloves and hope this will be a step in the right direction.

I only have two questions... can I order plain black batteries M401s from say Lite Cig USA dot Net? I think the dragon looks silly! And are parts exchangeable with the M402s and M403s on the same site?

See ya around!

The M series is basically interchangeable with any M series e-cig. and when you get it, keep in mind;

It's all a matter of technique in the beginning. E-cig's are no where
near smoking a regular cigarette. The style is completely different,
and each model has it's own technique.

No matter what model you decide on, you'll have to learn to use it.
The bashers will tell you that "This is better than that" - "This
has more problems than that" - "Buy this" & "Buy that". Listen or
don't. It's your choice, but no matter what you have, you'll have,
to learn technique. Once you master how to drag, how much juice
to add, and how your unit works, you're on your way.

Learning is the key, and it takes some time. Many of us here will be
happy to help in the learning process. Just keep in mind that if you
spend #10.00 or $1,000.00, the device will give you trouble until you
learn to use it.

A Ferrari is no better than a Yugo if you don't know how to drive.

If you're really unsure about something, or afraid to ask publically,
Send a PM to the person of your choice, and help can be made in
private, or just ask away here, for more opinions.

Cheers;
jd

Got it. I will keep reading around the forum and hope this venture goes well.

I don't know how the different e-cigs compare against each other except that the 501 is highly recommended. But I've ordered and I'm sticking with it. :)

I'm hoping the nicotine and the oral fixation - having something similar to a cigarette when driving or when stressed will help. Have you seen a majority of people who tried e-cigs make them a replacement off the bat, more slow progression, or its either a hit or miss?

And congrats doots for over two months - smoke free?

+1 on Jim being Right all the way. My original Pen Cig went out on me and my Dad went and purchased me a Smoking Everywhere RN4081. I was worried about it from all the forum hatred, but actually - even now that I have a few other models - I have to say it is either my very favorite or at least my second favorite.

It did just take a little bit to get used to because it vapes TOTALLY different from my Pen Style I had for such a long time.

Take care, best of luck to you, and happy vaping!

I have two models that are bashed here constantly. I get good hits, flavor & vapor. I can go for the day on 2 batteries. I carry 4, so I have back-up in case something goes wrong. When I first bought them, I just researched the hell out of them, and I use them as they are intended to be used. If you use an e-cig as a cigarette replacement, most work just fine. If you plan to surgically attach it to your face, and vape non stop, you'll need a heavy duty mod.

The foil issue;
I have a few of those carts left. I remove the foil immediately before use. They refill easily.

Get some spare atomizers too. They're unpredictable.

I also recommend you download the Troubleshooting Guide. It's a PDF file that you can put right on your hard drive for future reference. It covers a lot of issues, and has an added basic e-liquid section. You can get it at;

Howdy Hap;
In case you may not be aware of it, there is a Forum for the 4081. Parts are cheap, and they have double size carts available for them now. Information is at;

Total newbie here! Finally placed my order today for a 501 starter kit with 3 PV's from Innovapor and a couple 15ml juice from JC to start. I've also been lurking the past 2 weeks and I'm afraid I only know enough now to be dangerous. The whole diy mixing, dripping, PG, VG, replacement filler stuff still has me a bit perplexed. Hoping I ordered enough to make a good start.

My plan is to put the analogs away the moment my goodies arrive. Got the medium and high liquids, hoping they're not too much or too little. It really sucked to have to buy an entire carton of analogs also today, since I'm not sure how fast everything will arrive....sigh

If you all don't mind me asking, what was everyone's "internal dialogue" leading up to and during the first stages of your transition? Any pointers?

I'm pretty excited about doing this. This "quit" is for ME 100%, unlike many times before, I just wasn't ready. No one in my immediate circle has even heard of PV's and I'm getting some pushback from a few, worried about health risks, "trading 1 thing for another", etc. I do know, nothing's as bad as continuing to smoke. Hopefully I'll have more converts coming our way!

Have an awesome holiday weekend!

"internal dialogue"

Before purchasing after I found out about e-cigarettes: "This is my last option. If this doesn't work I'll just stay addicted forever, **** it."

Before purchasing. Researching: Came to ECF... "Wow seems that a lot of people have had some success with this. I'm impressed" (Still nervous about having to handle liquid nicotine, etc.)

On ECF: Asked around about a good model to go with and made my first e-cig purchase.

After my e-cig arrived: Took about 1 hour to check it out and start vaping. Haven't had an analog since.

First day of vaping: Come to the e-cig forums and proudly proclaim "Wow I'll never smoke again this is awesome." I just knew it in my heart. There were some tricky times the first week or two (after eating, waking up, sex) when I really wanted an analog, but I set myself to "vaping through it" and each time it only took about 4 puffs to make the craving go away. At this point I was still very nervous about the e-liquid.

Fast forward to today: I'm making purchases on multiple e-cig mods, buying specialized e-juice and have realized my fears about the liquid nicotine were just me getting myself worked up over nothing. Now if a drop of e-liquid hits the counter, instead of setting up a quarantine perimeter like I did at the beginning I just wipe it up with my finger and rub it on my gums like the junkie that I am LOL.

-----------------------

As for the OP I'd say Jim Davis made a good clear post ...

BUT I would add one thing. Regardless of the model you pick, I would suggest a manual switch battery instead of the regular auto switch. There is a MUCH smaller learning curve when you use your finger to control the hit rather than an auto battery that may cut out in the middle or end of your drag.

Whatever you choose, take some time to get to know the in's and out's of your purchase an if you have any issues always stop by here. This is a great community of people with a seemingly endless amount of knowledge on e-cigs and e-cig related issues.

I'm glad I took the advice of Katy at TheSmokelessShop who I ordered my first kit from and am forever grateful to for the time she spent talking me through getting started. She advised me to only vape the first 2 days and then if I wanted to try a analog to reward myself for sticking to it, to do it. She did that and by then the taste of the cig was so nasty she put it out and didn't want any more. I was planning to try an analog after the first 2 days, but the smell of someone smoking and the thought of having to taste that smell turned my stomach. I never touched another one once I picked up my e-cig.

I also used the laziness factor. I put my cig stuff in different places in the house. Cigs in one room, ashtray in another, and lighter in another, but I put everything I needed to vape right beside me. I never wanted a cig bad enough to actually get up and go get everything to smoke, rather than just grab the e-cig and vape away. Laziness won every time. Probably the only time being a couch potato helped my health :).

I really like to smoke 45 years without a break. No internal dialogue, did not look to quit, just liked vaping SO MUCH better and completely lost my taste for cigs. It was just about the easiest thing to do ever. If you like it you WILL do it..we always do what we like better. Best to you....
