I shot you a 10 spot. That's almost enough for half a beer at the convention center!
(I'll up it to 20 if you promise to slap e-machine guy!)

Thanks! Half is better than none! Gotta keep the wife in rum and diet cokes :)
Scubadaughter has been helping and kicking .... with the packing process, so a shout to her for helping!
Will drop more packages off today at the post office so the last list post will be correct as of 12:00 noon today.

If anyone else want to by me a virtual beer, I made a simple webpage for donations for the vapestock slush fund :)

So it looks like we were provided with #6 and #7 o rings.... Kinda stumped at this point on how to get the tank to seat properly.

I stole this from another thread. It might be worth a shot:

So here's an old bagpipers trick that will solve the issue. Remove the O ring, and get some cotton thread, wrap the O ring slot with several wraps of the thread, then put the o ring back over the thread.... Pop the cap back on and you should be good to go.

Don't know if this will help you, the #6 and #7 seem to be the sizes used based on this post from part 1 of this support thread.

BTW I think I have a fix for the tank staying, I tested different o-rings and going down one size seems to hold the tank more securly and stops the creep. I used a 7/16OD x 5/16ID oring from lowes, can't remember the number.
Dan

Added:
this one from Lowes:
Danco 5/16" x 7/16" x 1/16" Rubber Faucet O-Ring
Item #: 198966 | Model #: 96723

and a few posts down this one - post 2479
I don't know if Lowes uses a different numbering system, or if my local hardware is the different one, but the Danco stock number at my local ACE Hardware for the o-ring with those measurements is: 35723

It is also called a #6 o-ring

Update on MY o-ring hunt: I found the Danco #6 o-ring Dan recommended to be too small for my steel tanks but worked great for the cutoff 3ml juice bottle tank. My tanks fit over it, but the o-ring didn't hold it well enough for my liking. However, I went and grabbed a Danco #7 o-ring from Lowe's today. It's slightly bigger/thicker than the #6 but still allows me to put the tank on with a slight twist motion. It's nice and tight and I've not experienced any leaks or "tank creep" yet, even when turned upside down and shaken a little. I think I've found a winner! Just an FYI for anybody else having problems with their tanks slipping up. It may not work for everyone, but it works for me! Thanks for the help though Dan and others, it gave me somewhere to start! Now I'm much more satisfied with my amazing G-Tank-US!

One of the early comments by Dan with the original o-rings was Post #1845

Posted comment:

The only problem I have is the o ring keeps swelling and pushing the tank up, what size o ring is it?
Maybe a slightly smaller one would stop this?
Yes. I washed it.

Dan's reply:

It is a 1/2"OD x 3/8"ID 1/16"Thick o-ring.
The silicon ones were ALOT worse.

I did not have that problem after I washed the tank and the o-ring and put them together dry. Then added juice and have not had that problem since. I suppose a smaller o-ring would stop the problem. 7/16OD x 5/16ID x 1/16....

And again, not to beat a dead horse on this but when you do find a nice "o" ring that allows a reasonable amount of force to remove/replace the tank and you still get creep get some of these:

wave washer.jpg

they're called spring or wave washers...any decent hardware store has them (I got SS ones from Fastenal) place one on the top of the tank once installed then screw the outer on...instant cure

Is this a stupid idea? I don't plan on ever using the 5ml cap since it makes the unit to long for me. It's my understanding that the tanks don't fit right because of another screw up by EMS.

I've been thinking about this and I wonder if the 5ml tank could be cut down to the 3ml size and work like it should, bypassing the tapered part?

lol I will not hesitate! But I might try the string thing, too. :)

Actually, I hope the type B tanks work out since that's what interested me about the GTUS. I have a G-Tank and a GLV so I know the joys of this type Atty.

The string trick worked like a charm with the smaller o ring, I would hesitate to cut anything. I also have a 6ml syringe coming with the ghost protocol mod, we will see how that fits.

Without a taper you'd have a hell of a time getting the tank on (which is full of juice since you just filled it ;)) and you'd wreck a lot of "o" rings doing the "press and screw" method...you got to have faith, I had a GTUS and eventually sorted out all it's little idiosyncrasies...the tanks fit fine once to get the right "O" ring, it's a matter of keeping it on and the spring washer fixes that...so does, (I'm going to say BJ's but if it was someone else, sorry) idea of putting 3 blobs of hot glue on the top of the tank...but the blobs come off after a while...just something that has some "give" that the outer tank (which is threaded) can press against keeping the juice tank down in place...I guess Dan could have proto'd a screw on tank (which EMS would have screwed up too and we'd still be waiting) :p

Thanks for the reminder. Looks like you said 1/2" was a good fit.

Nice Dan, also for those having issues with tank creep...pick up some 1/2" O.D. ss wave washers at any good hardware store...place it on top of the tank then screw on the outer. The wave washer is like a flat spring and compresses the tank down where it belongs and does nothing to the air flow...works great

This is good, a response at least, I figured I could count on you Quigs! I wasn't planning on just cutting it off and beating it on.....I thought I might polish it up a bit and put a slight bevel where the tank first touches the O ring. I think your solution is a good work around but you have to keep up with the washer.(I know, there 100 in the bag right?) I have the original G-Tank and after 8 months the tank still snaps into place though it was tight a hell at first. I'm pretty sure this is what Dan had in mind, not washers, strings or what ever. I've built one of these for my son and get to see it every day so I'm no stranger to it, was just trying to think of a way for it to work as intended. :)

:laugh::laugh: nothing wrong with a good beating...I thought about polishing the "o" ring race (as it where) too and may do it to this GTUS (which I will be keeping this time) as I wondered about the machined surface as well...but the wave washer held up pretty good (got 5 only used 1) and sticking it on top of the tank after a fill just became part of the automatic assembly process for me but I agree, I doubt Dan could foresee this issue...this joint in particular is really susceptible to an unfortunate pairing of a + tolerance tank and a - tolerance mid...ultimately the solution will be "what ever works for your situation (if you even have one), but your suggestion, the string theory (I like that one), wave washers, glue blobs, etc...it's good to have multiple possible solutions for peeps to try (and there will no doubt be 10 more good ones coming down the pipe in about 2 weeks:D)
