Does moving to the larger wick require removing the t-tank spike also and drilling that hole bigger? Can the T tank carts still be used without the spike?

Good question...I didn't have the T Tank (and won't) but I did wonder if that was why it was there...which is why I'm holding off on posting what I did...I don't want anyone losing any functionality in T Tank mode...

EDIT: nvr mind, Asdaq has a faster clicky finger than me ;)

Whoot, look what arrived today. Thanks Dan. But I do need some help, threads aren't right, please read further.

Now about the help.

The small tank cover fits fine. But the large tank cover's threads aren't 'threads'. They're a pretty pattern of what should be threads but it's useless to attempt forcing it on.

Dan, can you offer any help to correct it?

Here's the best pic I could get of the large tank cover's threads.

And the small tank cover for comparison.

I won't start assembly of anything 'till I hear back from you. Thanks.

Well now I sat for litteraly hours testing each top and mating it with a bottom. Everyone I did individually and they fit the bottom that was in the bag. You can send that top back and I will retap it if you can not get it to thread on. Sorry about the mix up. You can still use the 3ml while the 5ml top is getting fixed.
Dan

Do you know the size or part number?

You know, I don't sorry, I just have a Fastenal close to my house and they had this open box of 1/2" O.D. (I.D. doesn't matter) SS wave washers (real thin and springy super light duty) and I bought 5 of them just as a meh?...turns out it was one of the best $1.25 I ever spent as far as the GTUS goes. I have seen them in Home Depot though...

i have heard about using 35x35 for the wick, i was one of the early del and on mine there is no way to use a wick that big, i have been trying to for at least 3 months, solid wicks, 22 gage needles, and paper clips of all sizes, by the way the spacer in the top went the 1st night. i would like to know why i cannt make a bigger wick work

also the wave washers work real good, you might want to use a oring on the bottem of the cover but that looks fine on the gtus. kind of breaks up the ss look, makes it look better i think

You must have got some big ol' wave washers, the ones I used let me screw the top right down, but like I said, they were real light duty...almost made of a clock spring material...they were more of a wavy shim washer...ah, you know what, why couldn't you use just shim washers and just put some slight bends in it...they're kind of like a spring steel material?

Are you saying that even though your spacer is gone you can't physically get a 35mm wick through the mid hole?

that is correct, quig

That's interesting...ok, you know what, I'm really taxing my memory now...before I give any bad advice based on my even worse memory I'm going to just lurk a bit till I'm holding mine in my hand...and hopefully peeps much smarter than myself will have all kinds of tricks and tweaks posted by then...in retrospect I may have been a little cavalier in telling Dan he could put me at the end of the line  :D

dan, can't believe what an amazing job you did. the gtank is so simple to assemble, all stainless including the 510 connector, all pieces fit together so well, just amazing dan!!

thank you for all your hard work, a masterpiece to say the least.

It was simple to assemble following Dan's videos :p

Mine fit together almost perfectly. The brass insert/positive connection is slightly longer then it should be. When screwed into my provari there is a small gap in between the base of the PV and the bottom of the gtus. Now that I have it working (like a champ!) I am going to try to work on this small, aesthetic, issue.

Without the PTFE spacers and using the pin technique I found 35mm x 35mm about perfect. On the preassembled ones, I will not be installing the PTFE spacers, but will include them if you want to use them.
Dan
I am happy to have the PTFE spacers.

On a side note, I did a size compare between the diameter of my SM and the ProVari. Looks like the base of the GTUS is the same diameter of the SM... with the adjustable center pin on the SM, and the solid 510 connection on the GTUS, being able to use a T-Tank for easy switch out at work, I am starting to get a little excited about this atty!!!

Just wanted to stop in and say thanks to dan for the awesomeness that is the gtank us! Got it by surprise today, completely haven't been following the thread lately. Am very pleased! Got it all set up until the fitting the mesh through the top part so I'm vaping it with the drip top for now. Looks pretty slick with my ss empire mods drip tip. Thanks again!
