I am happy to have the PTFE spacers.

On a side note, I did a size compare between the diameter of my SM and the ProVari. Looks like the base of the GTUS is the same diameter of the SM... with the adjustable center pin on the SM, and the solid 510 connection on the GTUS, being able to use a T-tank for easy switch out at work, I am starting to get a little excited about this atty!!!

Nope, SM is smaller diameter. Assembled my buds now its mine up on the surgery table.

i have heard about using 35x35 for the wick, i was one of the early del and on mine there is no way to use a wick that big, i have been trying to for at least 3 months, solid wicks, 22 gage needles, and paper clips of all sizes, by the way the spacer in the top went the 1st night. i would like to know why i cannt make a bigger wick work

I also agree, there is no way a 35mm wick would fit into mine, even when rolled around a small gauge needle.

Also, thanks for the info on the wick guys. I rolled a much smaller wick and its working like a charm!!!

For the nay sayers.... I am wondering if you might have 325 mesh istead of 400, I know that the mesh company sends extra sheets of 400 and 325. Here is 400 SS mesh at 35mm x 35mm

Roll on pin "Tight"

Fits in hole perfectly, not too tight not to loose.

ok dan, how does one tell the diff from 325 to 400 mesh, as for rolling it tight i really do have blisters on my fingers from rolling mesh so i think i have it tight enough. i measured with a ruler and the hole in the nipple is less than 2mm wideand a 3/32 drill bit will not go throu the nipple

Cut one inch and count LOL, seriously I not sure, I know it has a specific diameter to the threads. So mic one of the threads? I guess you can start with 35mm and trim 5mm off at a time until it fits. Should not be tight but not fall through. That helps any :)

I have since ceased the use of the PTFE spacers, If the wick is oxidized correctly you will not have a shorting issue. If the wick is too tight it will not wick properly (dry hits) too loose and it will flood (poor vapor production). I use a 2" pin (I stole from my wifes sewing box) and wrap a 35mm x 35mm piece of 400 around it tight. Oxidize and reroll it tight, test fit, wrap coil, mount wick and coil, then remove pin. Works like a champ everytime this way.
Dan
Are you talking about both of them or just the top one?

Darn, I got a pack of pins like that when I tried a previous rebuildable atty but they are only 1.25 in or about 30 mm in total length LOL :), almost.

One other question....when you cut your piece of mesh, do you cut it diagonally on the sheet from corner to corner or does it matter since these aren't going to be U-shaped? I know I've seen a lot of posts about doing it from corner to corner to avoid crinks but didn't know if that issue would exist for straight wicks?

If you do cut them diagonally, what in the world is the best way to divide the sheet with minimum waste as I can't quite figure out the best way to cut the pieces going diagonally without wasting a lot.

Thanks,

Goat, the #325 from themeshcompany is a twill weave, not standard. This means when you look at a sheet the light will reflect off of it and you can see a diagonal pattern to it and the #400 you won't. :)

Just got mine yesterday! Thank you Dan!

Only issue was that 1 item would not fully thread all the way. It would get half way then hit a problem. I just took my time and slowly worked that last half of threading by going forward, and then backing off, then going forward, and then backing off... was talking with a friend via bluetooth for about 10 minutes while doing this...next thing you know voila! the problem was gone!

On another note...what is the lightest weight 18650 PV that looks right with the G-Tank-US? I am using my 18650 ePower and the switch is heavier than I would like it to be when I was checking for fitment and feeling the heftiness.

Yeah I noticed that on some of them there are micro burs in the threading and it can produce a ratchet feeling, but after running it on and off a couple time it becomes very smooth. I would have to guess the lava tube.

Questions? :D

Dan

Is the idea to roll it onto the pin from the unfolded side, so there are no frayed ends when completed. That is the fold is on the outside of the wick when completed.

Next question. How long are you guys waiting after gluing in the scew w/ the head cut off. I waited an hour using Gorilla epoxy and when I tried to put in the machine screw, it got tight then 'screwed' the nylon insert out of place. I re-glued it and will wait over night to try again.

Any idea when the rest will ship? Hopefully you won't be spending your holiday weekend on these just wondering if we can expect them in a couple weeks or so.

Well I have tomorrow off, and planned on spending the day gluing inserts and assembling the ..... 145? units. So I should have some ready Tuesday morning to go out.
