That does seem extreme. Have you tried switching up juice at all? Would ask what wicking material you're using but you have a nautilus so I assume you're using their heads. When it happens is it because of a bad taste? Or does it just feel like a reaction from your body? Not really enough info in the op to make any kind of diagnosis

You might try adding some glycerin into your tank. Eases the throat hit. Perhaps dialing down the volts would help as well

I don't know if it sounds like a throat hit problem, but I might suggest looking into DIY... maybe start real small to see if you can adjust things to fix the problem..

Does the same thing happen with big lung hits?

Tried anywhere from 2.9 to 5 volts, and several new heads, as well as 3 different vendors. If it isn't gagging, it's irritation in my throat.
Sounds like it might be a reaction to VG ( cant believe im saying that) look up side effects of vaping on YouTube. Look for rip trippers and indoorsmokers has a good description of a VG intolerance.

Also forgot to mention, it's an on and off thing. I'm vaping on the Nautilus' largest hole (1.8 mm) at 4.5 volts (11 watts) with Halo's Belgian Cocoa, and no problems at all right now. Just want to know why it occasionally happens. Also, throat hit is definitely a consideration. I didn't smoke too often, so I'm considering dropping from 12mg to 6mg on my next order, it'll let me vape more and hopefully fix the issue :D

I've never experienced this myself and never read about anyone else experiencing this.

If you already mentioned it, I missed it. What is the nic level of your juices?

If you have not already tried, take some small lung hits and see how that goes. It will help if you open up the airflow on the Nautilus a bit for this. If that helps try a couple of deeper lung hits. I vape RBAs and RDAs and lung hit all the time now though I never did when I smoked. I find lung hits smooth out the vape a bit compared to mouth-lung drags.

With the mods your using it sounds to me like your overdoing the nic and getting a too harsh of a TH. Cut some of your juice with some plain PG or VG or even just by adding some distilled water. Start at 10% and go up from there. IF your using multiple coils technically your vaping 12mg nic but getting more nic per hit than on a single coil so for sure drop the nic level. You can get 0 nic versions of your juices and mix to tailor the nic level without losing flavor. 50/50 of 12/0 will give you 6 mg nic juice.

Also some flavors don't age well. I had a coffee flavor that was really good for the first few weeks, but after 2 months it started tasting like it had gone moldy and few cream flavors that tasted like they had gone sour but that was because I left them in my truck on a really warm day. YOu know there is a risk of juice failure when the bottle of juice is hotter than your fresh cup of coffee :p

You may have changed your vape style and not even noticed, especially if you are approaching it as "hold & inhale." What I'm getting at is you may have developed a habit of "gulping vape" and swallowing vapor instead of inhaling it.

This sounds quite logical to me... the VG allergy thing I said on page 1wouldn't be right if it's intermittent. Neither does the nic thing some are focussed on unless you have a bunch of different nic levels... and it would be more scratchy than making you gag.

Good luck and keep us updated, let us know what if anything works
