Guys, my mom is getting me a gaming system for xmas and I don't know which to get.
I have a few Xbox360 games and I think I have an 360 controller already.
I also have memory cards and I have the old 360 hard drives (I am told they dont work in the new 360s?)
So Idk what to get. My friend nate has a PS3 and everyone I know has a PS3 except my nephew avery.

So which one do I get? The Xbox360 or the PS3?
1 of the MAIN reasons I might want the PS3 is that my old friends have it. (i dont see them much anymore)
Even though I dont really hangout with them, they were excited to hear I might be getting a PS3.

I DO have 360 games, a controller, and the OLD style hard drives (if they even work in the new ones? Idk?)
But damn it, the fact that my friends have ps3's is really killing me and pulling me that way.

OH, one more thing... My mom already bought me an Xbox bundle...
Then the next morning I came into the kitchen to tell her BestBuy had a sale on PS3's and she got ......!
I feel HORRIBLE that she bought me a 360 and then I told her I wanted a ps3 without knowing she'd bought it.
But now thats in the past, she doesn't care, and she wants to know if she should return it for the ps3 or not?
Sooo I dont know what to get now. PS3 or XBOX? Old Friends or Already have some games and extra controller?

I agree with off topic, but I build my own pc' s for gaming..

But to be more on topic.. I would go with ps3 it plays Blu ray DVD and no charge to connect online..

I believe Xbox which is made by Microsoft or at least the software I believe charges you a fee to connect to Internet.. Ps3 does not, and if your friends have them u will be set..

Maybe take your Xbox stuff and take to a local game xchange and get some ps3 stuff...

All up in your grill..
I opted for the Xbox 360 last year because Sony got hacked. I like the controllers and the graphics are pretty good. It collects dust however as I am pretty much stuck on playing Diablo 3 with my laptop.

But you aren't going to be able to get even a decent gaming laptop for less then a grand and the 360 and ps3 cost like half that. (Or less)

I can't speak on the ps3. But the 360 is a solid console which is pretty cool but lame compared to high end pc gaming.

I'd pick the 360 just because of the security breach. Sony shouldn't be able to tout them selves as masters of technology if they can't protect you from identity theft, when you trust them with your banking and personal information. JMHO.

hmmmm any other opinions? I'm not too worried about being hacked. I don't even have a real credit card lol. I'm more wondering what I should get because on the 1 hand, my old friends have PS3... On the other, the 360 is more convenient.

Do you guys know if with the 360, if I'd have to buy an xbox router to go online wirelessly or are those built in now?
I know they are built in with the PS3's.

Well I unwrapped an Xbox 360 this morning. I'm thinking about keeping it.
I don't even play games that often. So I'll probably be going 2-3 months without the internet anyway.
When I want to use multiplayer, paying $10 for a month isn't so bad since I wont be needing every month.

But is this a good decision guys? Can any gamers please chime in?
Again, heres the conundrum:

My friends ALL have PS3's. I don't see them often but it'd be nice to be able to play with them.
My brother just bought his 9 year old son (my nephew) an Xbox360 and recommended it to my mom.
So, my mom bought me the Xbox360 and told me I could return it and pay the difference for a PS3.

Facts: 1.) I don't have a consistent job and the free online on PS3 network is a HUGE pull for me. 2.) I have read that the PS3 has 7 cores to its processor, and an 8th running the operating system. Huge bonus for me. 3.) All my friends are on PS3 4.) I already have the Xbox360 that my mom just bought me 5.) I already have a few Xbox360 games & controller & a memory card from my old(broken) Xbox360. 6.) The PS3's BLUE RAY capability is a huuuuuuge pull for me. :/ I want it. 7.) I could settle for playing with my nephew and not playing with my friends... I think? Idk. I'm on the edge. UGH. this is SO hard for me. 8.) I want the system that will last the longest before becoming obsolete too! And that LOOKS to be the PS3 because of its 8 cores... But IDK?

The PS3 is obviously more technically endowed when I look at the Specs. But my brother says the 360 is where its at? I dont get it. Another thing that is important to me is which games CAME with the system. With my 360, I got Forza4 and Skyrim4 I think? Are those current or recent games? Are they any good?

i need help. i want to start playing!! lol. I might say screw my friends and free online just because I already have the 360... Do any of you gamers out there think thats a good idea? Not smart/smart? Anyone have an opinion?

Skyrim is a fun game but it's also on the PS3 but in your shoes I would look at the games that are console specific (like xbox has the Halo franchise and I have no clue what the PS3 has).

If you already have a gaming PC, get skyrim on PC. There are literally thousands of great mods you can get.

I'd keep the Xbox. It has better games than the PS3 (which is what matters most IMO) and has better controllers. The PS3 ones just feel small and cheap. Your old style hard drives won't work with the new style Xbox. You can get a year of Xbox Live for $40-$60 (needed to play online). If you really want a Blu-ray player, go buy one. You can get them for cheap now days.

Forza 4 is an awesome game if you're into racing.

I'd also consider Video Games: Rent/Buy Wii U,Wii,PS3,PS Vita,PS2,Xbox,360,PSP,3DS,DS,GC,GBA Games: Download PC & Mac Games. It's basically Netflix for video games and costs a little over $20 a month.

xbox 360 all the way....i was a playstation fan from the beginning. had every version. then had friends with xbox 360's. they were playing COD modern warfare 2. tried both xbox and ps3. i liked the xbox alot better. if you like FPS COD is really good. i got my 2 daughters and son each a xbox. its something to do as a family. my ps3 is used only for watching blu-rays and netflix. in other words keep the xbox 360.

Sounds to me that you have already talked yourself into a PS3. BTW, Halo IS a huge FPS game. I bought my wife a Wii with the fitness balance board. The only time it gets used is when my 7 year old great nephew and I play Mario Brothers. I play Halo online on the desktop upstairs.

For me, the choice would be Xbox 3 with Kinect. It looks like a fun way to play games and get some exercise. But, I don't have a lot of friends with PS3, either.

yeah. at first it was a hard decision. I wanted the PS3 but I had an Xbox right in front of me.
I could keep the Xbox and be able to play online with my nephew, or, get a PS3 and play online free.
Nephew VS. Friends
Halo Vs. God of War

It finally came down to the above and I went with PS3. I like it a lot.
