No...there isn't really a gasoline powered mod just yet but sometime in the near future, this "micro engine" will be used to recharge your laptop or phone batteries in seconds. The mini motor can run for 2 years on a small squirt of lighter fluid! Imagine the possibilities for e cigarette mod applications!

Well, it's The Register, so you have to take it with a grain of salt. The limit on charge rate for any Li-Ion is no less than a half hour or 2C, most are no less than an hour or 1C. That right there makes me doubt the credibility of the article. Since the article was posted in 2003 and it's been what, 8 years, I think it's safe to say it was BS.

That's a much better article, but I can see a few problems there. It's a turbine engine so it's going to very sensitive to any restriction in airflow. I would be tricky to place it on a handheld device and keep that from happening. It would constantly flame out and require restarting. So, you'd still have to have a battery. There's so many other issues you'd have to address like how to vent the hot exhaust gasses and pressurize the fuel.

I'm holding out for the Dilithium Crystal controlled Matter/Anti-matter mod...if only they could get the magnetic containment field down to at least the size of an 18650...man, that would be awsome!, imagine vaping at 14.6 Terrawatts?...now that's TH

however...I'm hearing that the Romulan's are working on a Point of Singularity powered tube mod that cloaks it's self between vapes

Takes more energy to produce hydrogen than the resulting hydrogen can produce, until they resolve that hydrogen isn't feasible. Like electric cars running on electricity from coal. Do they really reduce the carbon.

Actually, I've read a couple of stories a while back, where they have test platforms set up in Germany.
It is a stand alone pumping station powered by a solar panel. The only thing needed is access to water.
I would imagine the only reason it hasn't been expanded is the mnf and safety of hydrogen fuel cells.

Hydrogen has been shown to be stable and relatively safe. I remember reading one of the big cities
was trying it out in the city buses. I am sure Big Oil is doing everything they can to block it though.

All the nay sayers want to harp on the safety of having hydrogen in a moving vehicle.
Why not combine hydrogen with electricity and have a hydrogen unit at home that drives
a generator for recharging the car.

Sorry, went a little OT.

Any freebees yet at TI?
I do have some zippo fluid left over from those old smoke days and gas powered sure would come in handy on my crank and vape. Wonder if it needs an exhaust pipe. I can think of a couple mods that would look cool with a exhaust pipe.

Yeah, how 'bout some flames on the atty.

Thinking about this thread for a bit now and you know, a gas powered mod isn't really all that out there...we're just trying to heat a coil right?, who says we have to use electricity?...I don't know about you guys but I always take my batt/atty cons apart to solder the wire to the outer body (because I use a mini torch) then put it back together when it finally cools...the heat transfer is pretty serious...if you take a coil and attach it to a heat sink and then took a mini torch to that sink, tell me there wouldn't be enough heat transfer to the coil to meet our needs?...it would only really work for dripping or bottom feeding because of the time needed for cool down (it'd kill any wicking in mins and plough through juice till it was gone) but it might work?...thoughts?
