Here I am again with yet another review for you. This time I’ll be covering the Geekvape Obelisk 200 kit that was sent to me by Geekvape in order to provide a fair and honest review. The Obelisk is a fairly small dual 18650 battery mod made with a CNC machined aluminum body and capable of 200 watts of output. Also included with the 200 is the Obelisk tank. It has a feature or two that’s a little different from other Geekvape tanks that I’ve tried.

INITIAL THOUGHTS:
The packaging on the unit I received was the standard reviewer sample packaging with an outside sleeve with the features listed on the back and a two part box underneath once opened exposed the Obelisk 200 mod and the Obelisk tank underneath with the .2 ohm Z series coil pre-installed. Also included was a coil removal tool, USB-C charging cable, spare .4 ohm Z series coil and owners manual. The retail package contents show a spare bubble glass but there was not one in my sample.
The Obelisk 200 mod is the smallest dual 18650 battery mod that I have tried. Or at least remember trying. The Obelisk has a CNC machined aluminum body so not only is it small but fairly lightweight for a dual battery mod. The top of the mod with the spring loaded 510 connection that is mounted to a solid top plate rather than just a screwed in atomizer connection will allow up to a 26mm tank without overhang due to the shape of the body almost seeming like there is a bump there to make the top wider. On the front of the mod at the top is the nice sized rectangular fire button followed by the .96” TFT screen below and the + and – buttons below the screen. On the bottom is a symbol which I assume is an Obelisk insignia. On both sides of the mod are shiny panel inlaid into the body with the word Geekvape on both sides. Also on the right side is the USB-C charging port. The shiny panels on each side are fingerprint magnets and very easily show marks. I’m not sure why these types of panels are used on mods when it bothers so many people. On the back of the mod the body tapers thinner and there is a pointed ridge that runs the length of the body. Finally, on the bottom of the mod is the new style magnetic battery cover that I have not seen before on a Geekvape mod or really on any other mod come to think of it. When I first installed the batteries, I struggled a little bit at first figuring out how to put the battery cover back on. I had to push down some while sliding the battery cover back on and it took me a few tries at first. I can’t really say that I love the battery cover design but understand that it was probably done this way to keep the size of the mod as small as possible. The inside of the battery compartment is marked + and – as well as the bottom of the battery cover having polarity markings.
The display screen is the same as I’ve seen on other Geekvape mods but will go ahead and list it out for those that are not familiar with the display and menu. Top to bottom the display shows the following information.
- Two battery indicators
- Mode of ooperation
- Set wattage
- Coil resistance
- Amperage while firing
- Voltage while firing
- Puff counter and length of current puff while firing
Like I said, the menu is the same as other Geekvape mods but here it is anyway.
- Press the fire button five times to turn the mod on or off
- Press the fire button three times to highlight the mode. From there you can use the + or – button to scroll through the modes of Power, TC-SS, TC-TCR, VPC, Bypass.
- Once the mode is highlighted, press the fire button once to scroll to resistance to lock it or press the fire button once more to scroll down to the puff counter. Once highlighted press the + button to clear the puff counter
- Press the + and – buttons to lock the wattage adjustment and the mod will still fire
- Press the fire button and either the + or – button along with it to increase or decrease the screen brightness
- Once in the menu, press the + and - buttons to switch the screen background color between blue, green, purple, orange, and yellow
THE OBELISK TANK:
Ok, I think I’ve covered the mod well enough so now let’s take a look at the Obelisk Tank that comes with the kit. The Obelisk tank is 25mm at the base and the bubble glass allows for a liquid capacity of 5.5ml and uses the Z series of coils. Included are two coils. The .2 ohm coil came pre-installed and is rated for 70-80 watts. The other coil is .4 ohms and is rated for 50-60 watts. The .4 coil was the one that I preferred and ran the most because it fits my style of vaping. I was able to run it comfortably at 52 watts with the airflow about 1/3 open. This tank is a bottom airflow design and has two large airflow slots that allow a ton of airflow.
The drip tip that was included on the tank is a bit taller than the low profile ones that came with the Obelisk C and I liked this tip much better. It is an 810 drip tip so yes you can replace it with one of your favorites. The top cap isn’t the usual ¼ turn to remove. The Obelisk has a childproof cap that you must lift and slide to open while the cap stays attached. Underneath is a fill gasket to prevent liquid leakage. The problem with this design is if you use glass droppers it can be quite messy and if you use larger plastic bottles you may have to remove the drip tip to get close enough to insert the nozzle of the bottle to fill the tank. There is a white mark on the tank to indicate where to push from to open but on mine the mark is only visible after you lift up on the top cap which honestly is a bit of a pain. I have to lift the top and rotate the tank to find the white mark so I can then slide the top open to fill. Not crazy about this.
On the bottom of the tank is the Obelisk name and the usual print. The gold plated center pin on the 510 does protrude slightly. If you look at the bottom side of the tank there are two notches cut in the tank that the coil must align with when inserting a coil.
FINAL THOUGHTS:
I’ve been reviewing for Geekvape for what seems like a very long time and have reviewed I think every one of the Aegis mods so it was a little refreshing to me for Geekvape to step away from the Aegis design and come out with something different. The Obelisk 200 is the smallest dual 18650 mod that I remember trying but will not say it’s the smallest ever since I don’t know that for sure since I haven’t tried every one out there. This I do know, with the aluminum machined body and the small frame, it’s very comfortable to hold and use while still being able to seat a fairly large tank without overhang.
The display and menu are the same as I’ve seen on other Geekvape mods which can either be a pro or a con depending on which side of the fence you’re sitting on. For me it’s a pro simply because I can pick up and use different Geekvape mods that I own without getting confused how to use the menu system on each one.
I’ve really enjoyed the Obelisk tank with the .4 ohm coil which does a very nice job in producing very good flavor and plenty of vapor using the Z series coils which I have used before. I’m not really sure how well I like the sliding top cap on it. I kind of have mixed emotions about it. The sample I received doesn’t have a mark on the outside to tell where to push once the top is lifted. I have to lift the top and then turn the tank to find the white mark that shows where to push it to slide open. I think the gasket on the fill port is a good idea but if you use any glass droppers like I do then you know that using them on this type of gasket can be a little messy since there’s always some liquid on the outside of the dropper. Also it can be difficult to fill if you are using a large bottle without removing the drip tip from the tank. I’ve seen this type of design on other brands of tanks so it’s nothing new to me. I think most Geekvape users are used to the ¼ turn to remove top caps and may have preferred that type of cap on this one. To me it’s not a huge deal because I also use a lot of 10ml plastic bottles and it’s very easy to fill with these as well as the 50ml bottles I use that have the same size of tip on them.
Overall I think the Obelisk 200 kit is a really great set up. I think every kit is going to have one or two things that don’t appeal to some people. This has been one of the best mod kits that I’ve tested in quite a while and think that Geekvape did a very nice job on it. I look forward to seeing what they come up with in the future.
So, would I recommend the Geekvape Obelisk 200 kit? If you like a small dual battery unit that can last a long time and a sub ohm tank that produces very good flavor and large amounts of vapor then absolutely yes. I’d like to thank Geekvape and Allison for sending the Geekvape Obelisk 200 kit for this review and a very big thank you to the readers.
