So I ran across a craigslist ad mentioning that he was getting rid of a bunch of mods and tanks, and ended up running over there today. Lo and behold I picked up a Minikin v1 (no mini usb), a Battlestar, a RDTA tank, 120ml of unopened 3mg juice, 4 batteries, and an Aspire tank thrown in for $25.

Thanks to this thread, at least I had some clue about what I was looking at, and what was probably the best deal.

I’m using 8 wraps of SS316L 26GA spaced, 3mm ID. KGD cotton, pretty thick through the coil with the ends fluffed and raked just enough to “declump”... ends are trimmed after fluffing/raking and might be barely brushing the bottom inside of the base cap. The cotton is thick in the channels, but just thick enough that when juiced, it is filling out the channel but not overflowing the channel.

I keep the coil pretty low, hard to measure this but lower definitely seems better, as I’m guessing most of the air is coming from the larger bottom ports.

I’m using Kanthal 24ga, 6 wraps-3mm- spaced, stuffed with Bacon Cotton. 1mm above bottom air hole.
With next coil I’ll mount it even lower, and I’ll try 10 wraps.

I like this tank, but it needs some tweaking. I want to get as close as possible to rda or rdta flavor wise.

At 45w, I was close to dry hit after 2sec and I was pulling hard to keep the coil cool. I think I used too much cotton this time.

I could vape at 50w on Lemo v1 tank after I heavily moded it for air flow, I just need more time to figure out Zeus tank.

The best part about Zeus, it doesn’t flood or leak.
The downside, ones the tank fluid drops below 1/2, the flavor drops and I have to keep wattage under 30w. But it’s most likely do to my wick and coil set up.

Keep us updated with your efforts ... I’m curious to try some other configs in this tank to see how the flavor/behavior reacts. Just like any new tank, it typically takes me a couple of weeks of trial and error before I settle in on “satisfied” ... while I think I’m there now, it still won’t stop me from trying new things. Too much potential in this tank, just need to tweak some more variables!

While I’m pretty satisfied with my config now, I do think I’m going to try and tweak my wicking a bit to get a bit warmer/more saturated vape. It’s consistently flavorful from full to empty and keeps up with my style, but is a bit cool for my liking and I think the flavor could be a bit “richer” with a little more warmth.

I too was a huge Lemo v1 fan... I would still consider them my reference RTAs for flavor.

It sounds like your coil position is good. Air travels in the path of least resistance, meaning the top airflow holes are where a bulk of the air coming in comes from - I’d actually be shocked if any air comes in from the bottom airflow hole. So I’d say you’re good there, and I wouldn’t drop it lower.

A lot of people here say that the Zeus loves cotton, and they use a lot. “A lot” is relative. For me, I couldn’t use a lot of cotton. I had to thin out my tails quite a bit, otherwise it wasn’t a saturated vape. I think this is because the juice has to travel up some longer than normal cotton wicks - so thinner has been better for me. If I just stuff the channels full, it’ll dry hit, especially as time goes on and the cotton swells more as it breaks in.

When I re-wick using a 3mm coil, I thin out the cotton to the point it’s slightly loose in the channels, then I put juice on the them and watch the cotton swell up. Once fully swelled, I verify the cotton still moves kinda freely in the channels. I also cut my tails so that they’re just above the base under the channels, so they’re just barely touching the bottom of the deck.

This RTA has definitely been more finicky than most I’ve used, as far as getting a fully saturated vape. Just keep tweaking it and you’ll get it!

Unless your af is wide open you get very little use from bottom af. Kind of an afterthought to me. I put as much KGD as the coil will accept, thin tails some , and cut to bottom of af channel. Wick does not touch deck. Had the same wick in for 4 days and still working beautifully. AF 2/3 open .27Ω fc coil @ 35w. Cut legs using deck as guide. DJlsb vapes tip on leg length has been spot on for me.

I finally got around to building my second zeus yesterday. I'm very happy with the flavor I'm getting from these. It's as good or better than the two serpent smm's I've been using and there's no leaking. I couldn't get the smm's to stop seeping.

Well I just cancelled my Zeus.FT changed the status from in stock to an ETA.Either that or I wasn't paying attention.I make it a point to never order from them unless it shows in stock.Even though that is no guarantee it makes me feel better.I also ordered a new Tesla Nano Steampunk (black) and want to be sure of which Zeus would look better on it. BTW FT has an incredible price on the Tesla which I have been drooling over for quite a while.
$39.63 Authentic Tesla Nano 120W TC VW APV Box Mod - 7-120W / 2*18650 / temperature lock / nnovative taste control / memory function at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping
Use coupon code THANKS15 and the price drops to $33.69.

I've been eyeing those and the new tesla mod. However, I just ordered a silk revenger and am quite a bit over budget with all of the tanks I've ordered the last month or two. I need to hold off buying anything else until after xmas.

Built another coil today, 10 wraps, 3mm, spaced, Kanthal wire. Mounted a hair lower.
Wicked it light-medium, even the bottom of the tank flooded because I didn’t close the top fast enough.
Now the vape is great. Great flavor, lightly moist, great juice flow.
Can’t vape it past 50w because of the DNA 250 voltage limitations. Because the coil is .91ohm, the mod keeps telling that the Ohm is Too High. But the vape is great around 30w.

With previous wick and coil, too much cotton was preventing the wick to saturate. And when the tank juice drops below 1/2, the juice starts to taste like cotton even at low wattage.

For now, I’m going to tweak the wick a little and see what works the best.
Might try 8 wrap spaced coil again.

Have read a couple posts where they are not thinning tails, cutting an arrow point with tip just above deck. Haven't tried single wire build yet in Zeus. Good to hear some are liking that build.

Yep, I'm thinning but not cutting the tails and they are vaping great. My tails are just barely dusting the deck.
