DJlsbvapes.com has a great tc section and a chart for tcr settings for tc wires.

What would you guys say was the perfect height for the coils?
I use the deck side to clip mine and have been very happy with coil placement. Read midwest guy's posts further up in the thread. He has played around with coil height quite a bit.

What mod are you going to use for TC? The best performing ones are DNA or high end YiHi (Not iPV YiHi). Also devices from the Chi-nee Trinity of Joyetech/Wismec/WeeLeaf are good IF you put ArcticFox firmware on them, the stock firmware sucks for TC. If it's Smok, iJoy, Kanger etc... then don't even waste your time.

The Hohm Tech Wrecker G2 and Slice will TC ANY wire, they take some tweaking to get dialed in and that needs to be redone quite often. I like to use the Wrecker for show and tell at the local "Clouds Bro Clouds" B&M, I'll TC the Nichrome build in one of the neck beards dripper just to watch the mouths drop. This is usually after a discussion with one of their all knowing resident Vape Gods, who claim that TC sucks and you can't TC Kanthal or Nichrome anyway...

I don't haz no Smoant...

The Minikin V2 (V40 firmware) and Aegis (1.23a firmware) work quite nicely too. ;)
I don’t typically use tc but do test it on my new mods incase the tc bugs bites me. My Smoant's have been easy to set up and use in tc.

Like I said, I'm a noob. My best performing mod currently is the Drag 157 and I recently ordered a MVP 4 to have a smaller setup for MTL. Not sure how the Drag does in TC but I should probably find out. If ignorance is truly bliss then I should be a happy SOB.

Everyone claims that the Drag works as good as a DNA device. I found their TCR numbers very odd and different than standard values so a little tweaking might be needed. I haven't played around a lot with it's TC function as there is an 80W max limit when in temperature control. The Supreme V2 I have on the Drag is usually runs at 95W in VW mode and I never bothered finding a smaller build to try out.

ECF's own Anthony Vapes has a review on it where he mentions having to set the SS TCR value between 1400 and 1600 instead of the default 1300.

The Video is queued up at that spot in the charts.

It's something to play with and check out for sure. I always recommend that people try TC on a DNA device first, that way they understand how TC is supposed to work. There is nothing worse than a bad experience with TC from a Smok device and then thinking that all TC is like that and why would anyone use it. ;)

I really appreciate you taking the time to share all of the great info. To give you an idea of how little I know about TC I thought that I selected the material in my mods menu (SS, Nickle, Titanium) and then picked a temp.
I guess it's a good thing that I know just how much I don't know

Stick with a single round wire build at first. There is a confusing learning curve with the Drag I've seen mentioned many times. There are some helpful posts in that thread. What regulated mods do you have? I am not wading thru the shiny thread to find your post.:D

can't blame you for not wanting to take on that task!
Currently my mods are made up of mech squonkers, the Drag, an alien 220 (that I hate and only use as a build platform and resistance checker) and my beloved Etaliens V2 that doesn't do TC worth a damn from what I've read. I have an MVP 4 on one of the slow canoes from China and I believe that one might do passable TC. If not, I'll keep my eye out for a deal on a low wattage mod that does well with TC. I'm planning on trying out TC with the Zeus which I run at pretty low wattage (.2 ohms and around 40-50 watts) and perhaps my new shiny Berserker Mini which I'm currently running at 28 watts on a .65 coil.

Buy a Smoant. Budget friendly and reliable. If you like tc then you can up grade.

I used to be a TC vaper but I eventually gave it up.

Finding the right TCR of different mod for different wire setup (dual or single coil) is a painful "try an error" game, unless one has the equipment like Daniel of DJSlab does and is willing to take the time and effort to do the required tests like him.

For me I rather vape under power mode and use my "mouth" to control my draw.

The main idea of TC is to maintain the temperature in heating up our juice but this is not what I want in a lengthy draw. I want the temperature to be lowered at the second half of my draw. For this, I think CPS is what I want. But then CPS has its own problem too, it simply can't cope with chain vaping needs.

IMO, we need a CPU in our mod. i.e. vape industry needs to become Smart like what have happend to the handphone industry - evolves into its smart era.

When I chain vape, I want preheat function to be Auto-trigger according to the initial coil temperature of each firing. I also want my mod to be smart enough to start its course of heating up my coil at different point of my plotted CPS bases on coil temperature when fire button is pressed.

Let's hope my dream will come true in the near future, mean while, forget about TC...:pervy:

I will certainly consider one of those. I'm pretty open to trying new brands (except for smok) as long as they do what I need.
Some of the new Aspire mods re well thought of as well, easy enough to install ArcticFox firmware on it if needed. @dobroeutro has a Speeder he's happy with.

Smoant has new little brother for the battlestar. 75w and only around $25. I am awaiting the arrival of one from the land to the west of here.

I'm having a hard time getting used to the short Gaia, I have a Cylon on the way. CC is wanting the BS mini too. Let us know how you like it.
