Hello Zeusians!
Is Zeusians what you call those that posses a GeekVape Zeus RTA?
Over the course of the past week I have read all 104 pages (so far) of this thread. I've been vaping for five years, but all my atomizers have been ones that I purchased factory made screw-in coils. I've spent quite a bit of money buying these coils over the course of five years, so building my own has been in the back of my mind for quite some time, but just never took the plunge till now. Originally my quest to find a new atomizer was driven by one factor, find an atomizer that does not leak. I was so over getting vape juice running down my hand at the most inopportune time. So I began searching for atomizers that do not leak. The first one that I came across was the OBS Engine Nano. So I found a huge thread about that particular atomizer and read for days, although I did not make it to the end before I was sold on it as it would fulfill two things for me, no leak and an opportunity to learn how to build my own coils. Sadly I quickly learned that the OBS Engine Nano was no longer made. But I had noticed a few post about the Zeus RTA contained within the Nano thread. I then began searching for information about the Zeus. That is when I found this thread and I'm so happy that I did.
I want to extend a thank you to all that have contributed to this thread. It has given me valuable insight on building my own and the Zeus in particular. I'm so happy that I found it!
Yesterday my two Zeuses (is that the proper plural?) arrived. One in gunmetal and one in stainless. Along with the two Zeus RTA's, I ordered a few different size/types of wire and cotton and the DIY CoilMaster kit. I did not want to use one of the pre-built coils that came with the Zeus, but wanted to start immediately with trying to build my own – only way to learn. Much to my surprise, I did it (actually I was certain I could do it, but didn't know how much trial and error I needed). The only problem that I had was the tiny size of everything (looking at only pictures and videos on the net makes the mind think this thing is fairly large in size, but reality is, it's not), but I managed, although slowly. I made my coil out of SS316L, 3mm ID, and six wraps. For my wick I had ordered some Cotton Bacon V2. I was not going to be the least bit conservative with the cotton. So at first I had pulled off way too much bacon as it would not fit through the coil at all. Removing some of the bacon, re-rolled, it fit into the coil and seemed to be fairly snug, but not tight. I trimmed the tails to where they fall about even with the bottom on the deck. I did not thin the tails at all. I did fluff them out, saturated them with e-juice (All of my e-juice is DIY) and made sure they were in the channels. Assembled the deck into the tank and filled it about ¾ of the way full and let it set for ten minutes. All I can say is WOW! I've never had so much flavor from an atomizer. That was yesterday. Today I'm still getting the same flavor. No spitting, no dry hits, just pure delicious vape that is out of this world. And best of all – NO LEAKS! I'm a happy camper. My juice has never tasted this good. I really don't know how to describe it, but it is like the vape has a moisture content to it that it never had before. Oh if only I had done this long ago, but better late than never.
Again, I want to express my gratitude to the contributors of this thread and for taking me to a whole new level of vaping. THANK YOU!
