Man oh Man. So I have been waiting patiently for my Vamo to arrive. According to tracking last night, it should have been delivered today. I have been checking the tracking all day .... I am thinking why hasn't the tracking status changed to delivered?

Well, I just can't believe CP - you can't count on anything these days. 'Canada Post processing error, item re-routed, possible delay'.
Expected delivery is Thursday. And they call this Express Post?

It's *possible* that you're having the same problem many of us have experienced at one time or another. Some are terrific (like mine now), but some don't go to the trouble of delivering parcels according to procedure. They don't even attempt delivery, leave your parcel at your local postal outlet, and a card with instructions for pick up shows up, sometimes that day... sometimes the next. If you already know where you usually pick up these items, you might try giving them a call later in the day to see if it's in. Otherwise, you'll likely get it or the pick up card tomorrow.

I got a delivery exception notice via e-mail ...

Reference Number: 5183

Shipment Status: Missort on November 27, 2012

Canada Post has made an error in the transportation of the item. The error has been corrected and we are committed to delivering the item to its final destination. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and any potential delay.

No big deal. I shouldn't be too hard on CP, usually I get most of my packages by the expected delivery date. But this one is very important ... that is why I am choked.

I could check with the local post office later today but I am sure doing so is a waste of time.

This delay is because of a routing / sorting error ... It normally is
1) Point of Origin
2) Calgary Processing Facitlity
3) Strathmore

In this case the package went about 200 km south of Calgary when it should have went 60 kms east of Calgary.

Tyger with the good advice, I would call your local outlet and see if they have it.

Well that's only applicable to the first part of his post.... if there was a "routing error"..... it might have ended up on the wrong truck, and he'll be stuck waiting. But we can hope...

At least you didn't have to clear Canada Customs

Argh.... I'm feeling your pain. DIY stuff I'm really anxious to get was to be delivered today. The tracking shows that it arrived at an area sort center at 2am. Stuff that's arrived there at 7am has been at my door before 10.... but it's noon and I still have an empty mailbox, haven't seen the carrier, and am DIY-stuff-less. *sigh*
Peak season bites....
I sure hope it still shows up.

I don't have errors too often, but my current postie never even attempts to deliver packages. It's always just a card left and I can't pick it up 'til the next day because they don't deliver it straight to the local PO first, it always goes back to the depot and then transferred.

Call and complain. Seriously. It seems like a pain, but Canada Post is as bothered by this as we are.... that's NOT what they pay their carriers to do. More than once, I (and my Mom) have had to do this, and the situation has always been addressed and improved. My current carrier rocks, and even rang my bell on Monday with items that didn't require a signature. He just knows I'm excited to get my mail. ;) I'll definitely have to do something for him for Christmas :)

So I decided to phone up CP and give them a blast but .. the lady on the other end was so very nice that I decided not to proceed.
I work in customer service so I know what it is like.

Now, I don't get any of this ....

1) The package was processed this morning at the Calgary sort facility. Great.
So why was it not put on the postal truck (or the carrier whoever that might be) for the eastbound mail?

2) CP should give the option ---> the receiver can pick up the package at the sort facility. If this was an option I would have picked up the package on Monday and none of this would even be a issue

Seems like most if not all problems related to CP have to do with the sorting process ???

Now the lady at CP did mention that they do two runs in a day (mail coming out of the sort facility) morning and afternoon. This means that the package won't get delivered today by the postie but there might be a slight chance the Value Drug Mart (pick up location) might have it later today. I guess I will call the location later today. Confidence is low folks!

Yeah the carriers that deliver to your house are great folks. Even when it is -40 (oh sorry folks in BC and ON don't get temps like that :)
they still deliver. I recall one year, it was so cold the wife asked the carrier if he wanted to come in and warm up. He could not come in: Doing so is not allowed by Canada Post.

I didn't even know people could get packages delivered to them, I've always lived in places where I had to go to the post office to pick up anything. Must be nice :p
Yip ... some areas in the big cities still get delivery direct to the door. However, I am sure that will eventually be phased out. The postal carrier will be a thing of the past.
