General Frustration...

So I just need to vent a little bit, and maybe see if anyone has any insight into what might make my experience a little better.

I started vaping last November after having been a pack-a-day smoker for the better part of 35 years. vaping was the first thing I tried that allowed me to completely give up cigarettes for good, and it happened in less than a week. My wife still smokes because I can't get her to try vaping (She says it's not the nicotine, it's the ritual of the whole thing, and I know how ...... I used to get at people that bugged me about quitting, so I leave her alone...) There are cigarettes around the house, and I'll smoke half of one maybe 3-4 times a week. I still don't know exactly why I do it, because they taste like complete ... and I can never get through a whole one.

So anyway, my frustration is with the idea that I can't seem to get the consistently strong vape that I like from anything other than a T3 or MT3. There's something about that style coil that just produces TONS of vapor, and lasts for literally weeks for me. The problem I'm having is that I've tasted my juice through glass, via the ProTank, and a recently acquired AGA-T2, but niether of them will produce the sheer amount of vapor that I can get from any one of my 10-15 T3/MT3 style tanks. I love the flavor that I get without the plastic undertone, but I've not been able to get either one to last.

I use a 50/50 mix of ECBlends RY4 at 24MG nicotine almost exclusively. I've tried a 30ML bottle of the same at 100% VG with the same results.

Starting with the ProTank; I have 2 of them, and they both behave the same way. I'll fill them up with a new coil, and they produce literal clouds of vapor for about a half a tank, and then they taper off to something akin to the old eGo clearo tanks I started with. You know it's in there, but you just can't seem to make it hit right to get it all out. After that first half-tank, I can never get the clouds I get from the hits I took with the fresh coil. I've tried washing the coils and fluffing up the ends of them, and I've tried rebuilding the coils using both spiral and woven wicks, but they always behave exactly the same way... great for half a day, then positively mediocre. I've tried them on my VAMO and my SVD at everywhere from 6 to 10 watts with the same results (except for more burnt vapor at the higher wattages...they behave the best at about 7.5W, slightly higher on the SVD, when that's even working, but that's a whole other post...)

I just received the AGA-T2 last week as my first rebuildable. I watched videos from PBusard and JC West(I think that's his name...chubby dude with a goofy voice that seems like a blast to drink with...) and some kid calling himself Greensomething before even attempting to build a wick and coil. I rolled up a SS wick and wrapped a coil at about 1.5 ohms, and got rid of all the hotspots, and it produces mediocre vapor. I tore it apart and tried again with a woven silica wick and another 1.5 ohm coil with a little better result, but still nothing compared to the vapor production I get from the T3 and MT3.

I've tried different flavors of juice, different PG/VG ratios, and juice from 4 or 5 different sources, and get the same behavior from everything by my MT3's, which continue to create traffic backups from the fog they produce.

So today, I left my house with 2 MT3's filled with my favorite liquid (RY4), an eGo Twist, and a Vision Spinner. I'm just friggin tired of throwing money at stuff, and I kinda needed a break from trying to make a silk purse from a sow's ear today...

The coils for the MT3 will not be available for too much longer, so I'm gonna have to figure something out. I do have an EVOD that seems to produce decent vapor for more than a day or two, so I wonder if it's just something about the ProTank and not the coil... I don't friggin know...

Thanks for letting me vent, and if anyone's got any ideas, I'd love to hear them...

Look up the thread about micro-coils, I've been playing with that style with my Zen Atty, Cobra and Kayfuns. On the genesis styles, I've had the best results with the stainless wicks and the ceramic for the Z-Atty using 28g with about 8-10 wraps depending on how tight I can wind them (the ceramic wick is 3mm so less wraps are needed) to get around 1.2 ohms. I'm still using regulated mods so I can't try any sub-ohm stuff yet. Just try and have some fun with it trying out different configurations.
