Hi all,

I will be quitting cigarettes on 12/31/12. I have SOME experience with vaping - about 2 years ago I purchased a cheap Njoy e-cig from a convenience store, just to explore it for when I decided to quit. I was impressed with the Njoy at first, to some degree, but certainly preferred analogs and so I eventually walked away from the Njoy. Now, I am ready to quit and I am exploring vaping once again.

A few questions:

Is vaping harmful at all to your respitory system? Smoking obviously inhibits your ability to jog, etc. Does vaping inhibit breathing in any way? In other words, when I quit smoking and turn to vaping as a "crutch", will my lungs begin to heal themselves at the same level as if I quit cold turkey?

What I love the most about smoking is the "feel" of holding and inhaling from a cigarette. Therefore, I have decided to start with the Njoy King disposables. I have read a lot about these devices on this forum, but I still have a couple questions:

Does the box come with ONE e-cig in a "pack"?

I hear that each Njoy King lasts about 30 minutes of vaping. I'm assuming that this is 30 minutes of actual DRAWING from it, right??! Not 30 minutes once you take your first draw?

Is there any way of keeping track of how much you have left of the Njoy King? Would hate to head out for a night out at the pubs with only a half-powered King.

Many thanks, vapers.

Welcome to ECF! You might check out the Electronic Cigarette Research or Health and Medical Issues forums. Here are links...or you can scroll down the main page listing all the forums until you find them.... Electronic Cigarette Research .... Health and Medical Issues

While this is strictly anecdotal, I know I'm beginning to feel better since I started vaping. Not smoking is improving my respiratory system.

I can't help you with the Njoy questions, but I'm sure someone will be along shortly to answer those questions.

Good luck on your vaping journey!

We had a similar experience, I tried the njoy 2 years ago and ended up throwing out in a week. started researching again over this past summer and bought my wife and I each 2 Ego twists... She still loves her ego (battery lasts most if not all day) refilling the tank 6-8 times a day. I've since switched to a Provari and Vivi nova. long story short I went from 2+ packs a day to pure vaping in 3 days. I feel much better now!!!

IMO it's too early to know if it is truly safe .... but I believe it is safer than cancer sticks! Good luck and welcome to ECF!

I smoked 48 yrs and have been vaping 1 year now and the difference is remarkable. I feel so much better, I no longer cough all the time and my lung capacity is greatly increased. If you are serious about quitting I would skip the disposables as they can become very costly and get a good starter kit. A lot depends on how long you have smoked and how much and the good people here can give very good suggestions. It does take a bit of getting used to but well worth the effort and cheaper once you learn some of the tricks to save.

Well, regarding costs ... I'm hoping to really just use the Njoy Kings as a CRUTCH, versus an all day/every day thing. Triggers that are going to make me want to puff away are things like: after a big meal, hanging out outdoors in nice weather, and of course a night out with drinks!

Bear in mind, in my neck of the woods a pack of smokes is a minimum of $8, and up to $14 in Manhattan...so the disposables aren't jaw dropping in price, to me.

From a scientific standpoint, I don't think anyone can say for sure if vaping inhibits breathing or not. From an anecdotal standpoint, most people will attest that they can breathe better since they started vaping (assuming they've reduced or quit smoking).

My wants for an ecig were the same when I quit. I loved holding a cig in my hand and inhaling it. It was ingrained as a habit. To effectively be satisfied when vaping, I had to set that desire aside. I quickly unlearned my smoking habit and don't miss it.

Njoys just aren't as long lasting or powerful as big batteries. They're also expensive. If you really want a cigalike device, hopefully someone can suggest something better than Njoy in terms of cost, battery life, and effectiveness. I know there are some out there - I'm just unfamiliar with them. Otherwise, you might want to consider giving a more powerful setup a try.

My first 2 weeks of vaping were Njoy kings. There is no way, that I noticed, to tell when the battery was about to die. You'd be drawing, and the light at the tip would just start blinking, and that was it. Dead.

Then I bought the Njoy kit. Just a battery, a single cartridge and a usb charger. That was $19.99. Five additional cartridges cost another $20. Although the batt was easy to keep charged, you still never knew when the cart would give out (they only lasted me a day or so, and I was a light smoker).

The flavor was weaker than the kings, and became even less enjoyable, too.

I finally got an eGo starter kit, and I'm very happy with it. I use clearomizers (transparent cartridges) so I know how much fluid is available, but I'm still a light-weight, since I only vape about 1.5 ml/day. My batts are 1100mAh, so a single charge lasts a good long time, but the kit came with 2, so I can carry the spare.

I also understand these batts have an automatic shut off, so you can't overcharge them.

I got mine on sale for $29.99, though similar ones seem to run $35. A 30 ml bottle, at the rate I use, would last me two weeks of daily use. They seem to run about $15, generally. I haven't craved a cigarette since. At all.

Seriously. At all. 30+ years. Poof-gone!

Not true klynn. There is a Smokin Vapor in Moulton, AL. Granted, still not close but it is in the state.

Moulton - 14422 Court Street, Moulton, AL 35650 (256) 974-8288

Or just come to Panama City for a beach vacation and visit our store. :p

tommyc- I would highly recommend Volts for you. Smokeless Image | Only The Best Electronic Cigarette | Smokeless Image Electronic Cigarettes - The Future is in your hands You still have the form factor of a cig, but it will be a much, much better vaping experience and they will last a lot longer. :)

From a pure medical standpoint, honestly the effect of vaping long term is still a bit of an unknown. There simply hasn't been any long term studies done on the effects of vaping on the respiratory system. Short term studies show promising results, but the long term(and by long term I'm speaking of 10-15+ years) is still a bit of an unknown. The effects on the cardiovascular system are showing promise as well, but again only short term studies have been done. So honestly at this point medically speaking I would venture to say vaping is, in the short term, safer than smoking, BUT still not ideal.

If you are truly serious about quitting cigarettes with the aid of vaping, I strongly recommend against any disposable device. There are far better devices available than those. You didn't mention specifically how heavy of a smoker you are, but you did say that you enjoy going out to the pubs where heavy smoking is likely to entice you. If only for those instances, you need a more powerful device.

You know yourself and habits far better than me. You seem quite confident that you can quit with just occassional use of an e-cigarette. This is far different than most people's experience when trying to quit.

I wish you good luck.

I have to agree with the Smokeless Image Volt starter kit. As for me, I smoked Newports for over 36 years and never truly quit until I got my starter kit from them. Started with it in September and have not had any desire for a tobacco cigarette since. If you decide to go with this kit, I would suggest that you get two 78mm batteries automatics. This mimics the motions of smoking... holding it, inhaling with large volumes of vapor... No buttons to push. A 5 pack sampler to find what you may like and maybe get an additional box of prefilled carts of a flavor that you may like. Another suggestion is to get the kit with the mega charging case included. What you need to start. Since then I've moved up to the larger X2 volts that are similar in form and function to the ego's.

As far as how vaping effects you physically, being able to breathe fully going up and down the steps, going for walks, blood pressure lowers, not having smoker's cough as well as loosing that awful cloud of smoke that clings to your hair, clothes, house, car. I could go on and on. I'm not a doctor but from what my doctor has told me, my general health has greatly improved. I'm happier and so is my family.

Wishing you the best of luck in your vaping journey. The ECF forum has TONS of information and is filled with people to help and support you. Have questions, just ask. We are all here for you.

Thanks for the info, guys. I am a fairly heavy smoker, but I am pretty unique in the fact that most of my smoking is on the weekends. During the week, most of which I am at work or underground in a smoke-free subway system, I might have 2-3 cigs at night. On the weekends, it could be 1.5 packs per day. So I guess I have a strange way of smoking.

With the King disposables, I understand that there are better more powerful devices out there. To be honest, I don't really want a big honking device, and I'd rather not deal with charging it, etc. From what I have read, the Njoy Kings are VERY realistic in terms of draw, as well as feel.

Pardon my ignorance, but how do you guys feel that a bigger more powerful device is more effective in enabling you to quit?

i honestly think you should start on a ego i started with v2 didn't like it so went back to cigarettes. then a few months later i got pro smoke it was good and i cut down to 2 cigarettes a day but the prices of pre filled cartridges was too expensive. then i went to halo's g6 another great ecig i began learning about filling your own carts and got into cartomizers and now I'm on a joye 510 and gonna buy something better soon when i decide if i want a provari or a silver bullet or any other mod.
i would just skip the pen style batteries i have to charge mine every 2-3 hours

Bigger battery has more voltage & therefore produces a stronger warmer vapor. Bigger battery lasts longer between charges. Bigger batteries can last 1-2 days between charges. Therefore the vaper-person does not need to light up a cigarette.

The reason people have better success with a larger battery like say the Ego twist is because it can deliver a stronger hit when you need it via just turning the knob at the bottom of it. Also you will not have to recharge as often so it has WAY less frustration involved. You will have less hassle recharging once a day than all the trips out to buy more disposables. If you really are set on a cig sized battery then I would recommend the volt from smokless image. Get at least 2 batteries if not more and if you can handle something the size of a sharpie just get two ego twist batteries. Your success of using e cigs to get off the analogs will only be as good as the set up you choose. I don't really know of anyone who just uses disposables because the cost and low performance just don't support long term use of them. Good luck no matter what you choose.:)

HHV is in Newnan, Ga. They don't have a storefront but if you email them they have private tastings at diff times. LOL an innocent visit bring the debit card.

:offtopic: I am SO jealous! On their website when you order, you have the option of picking you order up. Just sayin' ;)
Small order to get your feet in the door.....may lead to a discussion of their different juices.
