This means your coil and ss mesh still have a short... Try use a toothpick to move the coil up and down(little by little) while firing until the hot spot gone. Or maybe your coil wrapped too tight around ss mesh? Otherwise try rolling paper(cigarette paper) method, this is the more easy way to get rid of hot spot.

Mine is AGA T+ - I was looking for the snap on top as my Cobra clone atty was not aligned (i.e. the air hole and the wick)

Use a 1000 grit sandpaper and sand down your cobra clone top cap bottom until the hole aligned. (place the sandpaper flat and grind the cap bottom slowly...) Otherwise just throw is away, it is made of brass with chrome plated anyway(not safe...)...
