I've always heard/been told that you want to have lower watts on your genny builds. As the other posters have said, if you keep your watts at a reasonable level and your ohms at ~1.5 you'll be able to make good use of the variable wattage and get great battery life. It's probably best to build yourself a 1.5-1.8ohm coil and play around with the wattage to see what is best for you.

Make sure you don't get your watts too high, though, as you can ruin the taste in your genny that way. I've had a kraken built for me (I don't have any SS mesh atm) that tasted bad on a freshly charged VTC5 but great on an AW IMR 18490. Once the VTC5 dropped a bit the taste improved. Running too high watts can ruin the flavor, so make sure to start at a pretty tame level before moving too high up or down.
