Genesis atty, wick gunked up a bit

Hey guys so my genesis atty is still going strong, cant get it to work on my silver bullet tho for some reason......

Anyway the wick is a bit gunked up now as well as the coils..........is there a way to fix this or is that when you replace the coil and wick?

Welcome to ECF , and my genisis , won't work on all my devices either , so your not alone . And , you can try to soak the coil, and wick in some vodka for several hours , and use a dental pick , or something to clean the coil . But , that being said , probably best to just make a new one . Flavor and vapor are always the best , with a new coil . Be sure to oxidize the coil , and wick , before use . I oxidize , before I build it . Lot easier .

Using blue fire you can burn off most of the funk in the wick...however, the coil will probably need to be replaced...but a little seasoning on the coil isn't necessarily a bad thing...I find it vapes better once a little buildup forms on the coil....sort of like this right here I consider perfect:

Blue fire = blue flame of fire.

Don't be shy with the coils. Heck, some people use soft tooth brushes and give it a nice gentle brushing. Worse thing that can happen is you break the coil and you have to replace it anyway. I generally find using a toothpick/needle/paperclip and "poking" at coil along with some nice blows work well.

Ditto. A butane torch is your best friend when it comes to Genesis wicks.

On my mini-Did clones (similar in appearance to elmattis's photo) I inspect the wick/coil on each refill. So far, I found that if you let them get too gunked up, the performance drops off, and cleaning will sometimes ruin the coil (so I wind a new coil). So, before I let it get that bad, I slip the wick out, rinse it, and dry-burn the crud off of the bare coil. If the wick still looks bad, I blue-flame it, and the crud burns off (and dries the wick) Then I slide the wick back in. My wick is evenly rolled, so I can gently twist it in/out, as long as the crud coating stays light enough. After doing this cleaning 2 or 3 times, wick/coil is oxidized/seasoned enough that I dont get any shorts when re-inserting it.

I'm able to successfully dry burn the coils on my AC9. I've had the same coil and wick setup for ~3 weeks now and it's still going as strong as ever. Though I'd be careful doing it; you could pop the coil or ruin the wick if you aren't careful.

about your genny not working on your silver bullet, i have a couple gennys, a real DID and a aga-t. the aga-t will work on my provari but will not work on my omega with out a 510 to 510 extension. the 510 connection on the omega is to deep for the aga-t threads to reach. the 510 adapter is only a few dollars.

how could you ruin the wick? it would just oxidize more if when you apply more heat..now if you bend it into a kink...then you might have issues.
