Ladies, Gentlemen, and Jack! I present to you, RM2 in genesis configuration. :vapor:

So far, vapes very nice. Ton of vapor, subjectively more than cotton. Also subjectively, better flavor than cotton, slightly less throat hit, though that might have something to do with my coil positioning. I'm not overly happy with the wick's capacity -- it seems to require a squonk after about 4 long hits, or it starts tasting metallic. After 6 drags, it becomes very nasty and scratchy.

When squonking, I can see the wick saturate and a drop of juice shows up on the end (get your minds out of gutters). But as soon as you let go of the bottle, it dries up a bit. I'm slightly concerned that it's rinsing the wick with fresh juice and sucking the backwash into the bottle.

400 SS mesh, 30 ga kanthal A1. I couldn't fit the wire into the bottom hole, so I caught it under the head of the screws. Measures at 1.3 ohm. The wick is NOT all the way down to the bottom of the atomizer -- just enough to catch it in the ceramic hole.

More to come as I keep vaping it. So far seems worthy of keeping.

Edit: Sorry, the picture quality is what one can expect from a phone :nah:

Freakin awesome experiment! The madness will never end. From no wick to one down the pipe all in the same day. I like it.

Nice work. Do you notice any difference form a standard horizontal coil, and any issues with flooding? I could image that surface tension alone might impede some of the juice from draining back into the bottle.

I haven't tried a horizontal coil yet. That's on my menu tomorrow. In all honesty, I made the both coils, and started with one that was less likely to work. I figured I will switch to horizontal when this blows up. But it didn't :)

how much is enough?? you guys are breaking the barriers not meant for mankind!!

There was a time, when the conventional scientific wisdom, was that the human body could not withstand the forces encountered at over 50 mph. Then again, maybe my excesses of youth could account for what has been politely termed my "eccentricity" :)

Mind blowing idea dude!! What kinda diameter tool did you wrap the wire mesh around and how many layers of mesh you got there?

No idea :) It was an old wick that I chopped. Inner diameter was a relatively large straightened safety pin. If I had to guess, it was originally a 45mm piece of 400 mesh, since I believe that's what I used in my DUD.

I tried something like that initially when I first got my RM2. I bent the wick out of the hole at almost a right angle instead of leaving it semi-vertical, though.

It vaped well enough, but I came to the conclusion that it was, as you suspect, rinsing the coil and washing back into the bottle. My bottle juice would turn black after going through 3ml or so. I'd still call it a success, but I didn't like the "black juice" aspect, so I abandoned the approach for future coils.

Very interested in this black juice phenomena you've been getting Plaz and Commie if you too are experiencing this. Was the mesh you used oxidized? Is the flavoring in your juice if any, oil or water based? My head starting to hurt, so much to think about and understand  ;)

So far I'm liking it less and less.

The vapor and flavor are great. But the wick needs to be very saturated for it to work well. Otherwise it tastes just slightly metallic, putting it behind cotton. Effectively, it's too much of a pain for me to keep it soaked. I might have set up something like this for around the house, but in my mind that defeats the purpose of a Reo (compact, leak-proof). At home I can use my leaky genesis.

From what I understand a #500 may be better suited in a near vertical coil such as you have. Said to have a better capillary response to it, guessing because of the greater squares per inch (500 vs 400). Gonna try an oxidized extra long mesh in a horizontal position using the #500 and hopes it saturates as well as cotton, don't think theres much chance for this but worth a try. Jus' gotta get my lazy ... away from the puter :)

I noticed it with a couple of different juices... one of them was Boba's, I'm not sure what the others were, or what their flavoring bases consist of. I bought the mesh pre-oxidized.
