Are genesis style atomizers worth all the trouble, the reason I want one is because the other cartos Ive had dont seem to last very long and I'd like to have one for longevity. But I still like trying new ones.
The short answer is yes. The long answer is yes once you get over the learning curve they are amazing, adjustable TH, insane flavor and vapor production, and yes a properly built coil and wick will last a good long clip(my current setup is a month and a half old and still going strong on 100% VG juice). Is the learning curve a bear to get over, depends on your natural mechanical ability. But once you get it you only get better and it only gets easier.
IMO it is that the little learning curve there is, is heavily outweighed by the huge benefits of a genesis. If you don't try one you truly are missing out on the best vaping experience of your life.
IMHO, only thing you can compare Gennies to is dripping. There is a bit of a learning curve but well worth the effort. And for maintenance, I recoil every few weeks and reuse wicks for months.

Do it Trent! I read your profile, I think your good! I'll bet you could make your own. What are you going to run it on? It's not hard if your batt./mod has built in protections, and you can always jump over to the modders forum for tips. Best wishes.
I just got my DID set up and i love it. I had an AGA T+ before and it was a very difficult device. If you do go for a rebuilable, go for a more expensive device. You get what you pay for. AGA is mass produced and the wick is too far away from the positive post. and the positive post...dont get me started. with mine i had to constantly push it back down cus it would lose connection with my battery. I tried everything with that. but yeah a DID or cobra or any other high end rebuilable is the way to go. easier to set up.

That's weird I had no problems with mine. Although I did tap on the positive post once and it works just fine. Wrapped with 4 coils 28 awg getting .8 ohms vaping on a mech mod.
DID, AGA-T, MonsterMesh, and Birkshire v1...they're all about the same when it comes to getting them set up, the monstermesh being a tiny bit easier because of how they did the positive terminal. They all give of great flavor, TH, and crazy vapor once you Getty past the learning curve. IMO, you can go wrong with any of them.

+1 on that. I am pretty much a novice and I have managed to set up two that took no longer than about 15 mins each that are working exceptionally. One is 1.3 ohm and the other 1.5 ohm. I even did it with a minimal oxidation method (no torching at all). I am just so impressed with the AGA T+ and even prefer it to my ZAP which has a larger air hole. The draw and the vapor just seem better from the AGA. Overall, genesis atties are about as good as it gets IMO.
