I've tried the pulse method twice and I prefer the lighter method. While doing the pulse I couldn't help but wonder how hard it was on the battery, I checked it and it wasn't terribly warm, but I was still concerned about it.

Yeah, there's a 'coolness factor' to using the pulse method. But it's really not much different than oxidizing the mesh with a lighter or torch underneath where the coil will be. Both accomplish the same thing.

Mine's coming with a couple of Kir Fanis tanks, but IIRC they're some sort of plastic. Would you post pics of your IBTanked tank?

Jeez, finally got my shipping notice from ibtanked. I have the Kir Fanis short tank on it right now. I checked and they are PMMA, for whatever that's worth. I don't know if it's more resistant to juice issues or just a buzz word type thing.

I wonder if the shipping delay was because I ordered a DID clone tube with beveled edges? perhaps that's not a stock item and they had to make it.

Thanks for the info!

p.s. I'd imagine the beveling is only done to order.

I want to play!

Can anyone recommend a good low cost Genesis RBA for me to start playing with. The Cobra looks really nice, but I want to fry (I meant try) something cheaper to start.

The AGA T2 is under $30.00 and uses a glass tank. But since you posted about the Cobra i am not sure if you want a knock off gene or not??? If you are looking for a true Gene RBA it will not be cheap.

Hard to find right now though, the AGAs are more readily available.

Looks like several vendors are expecting the RSSTs by mid April.

Personally, I found the RSST to be much easier to setup than the AGA-T2/+ and would recommend it as a good starter RBA.

Sent using a sophisticated pattern of 1s and 0s.

I already purchased the AGA-T2. What I need to learn now is how the coil wraps effect the Ohms.

like many, i started with a simple battery e-cig. after the battery failed, i decided to go with provari with a carto-tank. the taste and vapor production was amazing compared to the first. still, i struggled with burnt cartos and annoyance with filling the tank. so i moved on to zap for my provari. wow, i've heard many talk about the difference between carto-tank and genisis, but i didn't expect it to be so dramatic. now, i have a few mech with various genisis type atomizers, with steam turbine being the best of them.

Agreed. The pulse-method is stupid-easy on the RSST. I put away my torch. Bare mesh is pulsed to full middle-out glowing coil in about a minute, with light prodding. No battery strain beyond what you'd have with normal vaping. My bare-mesh setup literally took less than five minutes from inserting the wick to vaping away. I never had that kind of luck with the AGA-T2. The insulated wick hole on the RSST makes pulsing a *lot* easier.

More wraps, more ohms. How much more per wrap will depend on how thick your wick is, and the gauge of your coil wire.

Quick info for what I found when I started. Normally, .32 Kanthal is good for VV mods like the Provari, and .28 Kanthal is good for mech mods. Try 4 wraps to start then if you want to increase your ohms add a wrap, and lower remove a wrap. Personally anything under 3 doesn't have enough surface area to be effective, and anything over 5 maybe 6 cuts the surface area off.

I have been afraid to try the pulse method on my AGA-T cause I already killed a battery in just adjusting the coils. However, I did try it tonight. I can normally wrap a wick and coil with an extensive torch and quench in 20 minutes with very little to no hotspots. Pulse method on my first attempt was over 2 hours. I kept trying to use it on a protected battery and the protection kept kicking in cutting off the power. Reluctantly threw my oldest AW IMR on there, and finally got success.

I am hoping after the break in period it will get better. It seems to have a cleaner taste. Next coil / wick I do I think I prefer torching just the tip where the coils will be. I think as soon as the RSST becomes available I will get one. Watched Phil's video on it as he did the pulse method, and does seem stupid easy. I will give it (pulse method) a try again then. Just wish they had glass tanks.
