What does this mean? Wick surface area I assume.. But why would that be bad? It needs to "breath" or something? Thanks

I have seen some builds that have 12ish wraps that work, and owners swear by it. First its easier to set up on a small surface for beginners. Second, and this is mostly opinion and how I understand it. More wraps means a longer coil = more Kanthal to heat up before reaching best vaporizing temperature. The other part of that is if you depend on coils to vaporize the liquid you can quickly burn your liquid. If your coils are warming the SS mesh first, then your mesh is vaporizing your juice, not your coils. With 3 to 6 wraps that span the exposed wick it gives enough response time, and heating to heat the mesh to vaporize the juice. As the vapor comes off the wick it passes the coils. The more surface area the coils have to come in contact with the vapor, the more vapor gets further heated burning the vapor itself. The air hole right next to the coils cools the coils preventing the afterburn effect, as well as assisting the production of vapor on the wick itself.

It makes sense to me, but I have no PhD.

Well, as far as "genesis vs everything else", you may want to look into the "everything else" part that is not just carto tanks :) Don't get me wrong, genesis is an awesome vape, for when you're at home. Problem with most gennies is that they're not shake or tilt safe.

As far as I'm concerned, bottom feeders are the thing for out an about. No leaks. Cartos on them taste better than in a tank (since you're sloshing juice directly onto the coil). Dripping atomizers taste like dripping, without having to hold the bottle and count drops. RBAs on them are awesome, and there's a new RBA coming out that should be very much like a genesis device, but without the leaking :)

I got some bottom feeders and I would take a carto tank over it any day. They are easier to change flavors and fill but lack in taste. Like I said in my original post though, everything else is no longer satisfying. I drive for a living and have a little auto pouch that I stick my genny in, so keeping it vertical is no problem. I have open wick, and fill screw removed and have had no leaking.

I agree. If you can keep it vertical, genesis is a winner.

However, if your bottom feeders lack in taste, you may have done it a long time ago, or possibly did something wrong. Just like it's very easy to set up genesis to produce very little nasty tasting flavor :)

Got a couple questions, but not sure if they warrant a whole new thread.

Those of you who have mainly converted to gennies... what do you use outdoors / at work? I assume some just use their mega-scale gear, but I'm looking for something more pocket friendly. What's the closest thing I can get to a proper gennie experience with something that fits flush on an eGo battery? DID mini? I'm a bit wary of using SS setups on eGo batteries. I'm almost using my 18650 Vamo with Aga behind closed curtains. Pulling it out of a pocket makes me feel like the Joker pulling out his revolver in the Batman movie.

Also, how do you sort out hot spots? If I go below 1.1ohm, I can't use my Vamo (with safeties) to make sure the coil works well before putting it on a mech mod. (Got The Natural inc.) Isn't the risk of shorting ones battery quite high?

Mine 'flop' over in my shirt/jacket pockets... they're horizontal when I sit in my cargo shorts (I use the built-in phone pocket). So... I dunno. YMMV applies here I guess. :)

I carry an RSST on an iSeason in 18490 mode in my pocket, but it tends to stay more-or-less upright. Haven't had a leak yet, whereas my IGO-L has leaked all over several pockets.

The risk is quite small once you know what you're doing. The idea is to pulse the coil with very brief presses of the button. You'll quickly see if it's set up well, and the more you do it, the better you get at seeing that a coil is "good".

Plus 'safe chemistry' batteries (Li-MN, like IMR batteries) don't explode; they heat up. Your battery will get warm long before any 'meltdown' condition is reached.

Knowing a good coil is the main part of it. After a while you can wrap a coil and pulse for a few seconds and know it's all good.

Wasn't sure this warranted a new topic either, so....I'm taking the plunge, said I wouldn't, but I'm thinking the AGA-T2 for my VAMO. I am not sure though about how low resistance I can go, used to 2.4 and higher.
I figure I need 450 mesh and 30 gauge wire? Or do I need to get a mechanical mod? If I don't have to get one, then better. Am I figuring this right mesh and gauge wise?
I found a vape shop in my town and they are willing to give me tutorial and help me wick and coil my aga-t when I bring everything in. I watched videos and read so much, my head is spinning...hands on is better for me. I was envious of the vapor he got out of his phoenix on the kamry k100.

I use my MVP w/ Chobras at work. I set them up w/ 30ga Kanthal @ ~1.6Ω. Before that I took my Twists (1000 mAh) w/ Chids on them. I use 32ga @ ~2.0Ω for quicker response time given the Twist's limitations.

Either #400 or #500 mesh will be fine. 32ga will wrap a little easier for a beginner, but the coils are easier to pop if you're not careful. 30ga is what I use on most of my VV/VW mods. I wrap them at ~1.6Ω. Usually 5/6, but it depends on wick size.
